Xenoblade Chronicles 3: insider talks about the characters, announcement coming soon?

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Waiting for a Nintendo Direct to confirm the release of the project, new details have appeared on the net about Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the next chapter in the successful Monolith Soft JRPG saga. This time the rumors were spread by a very reliable insider, Imran Khan of Fanbyte, who spoke in his podcast about the state of development of the game and the characters.

Khan spoke about a source very close to the studio Japanese, according to which Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is at a very advanced stage of development. The insider had already talked a few days ago about the final stages of processing this project, and has now returned to discuss it with new details on the status of the work. Apparently, despite the game being practically in its final design stages, the developers had to overcome significant technical difficulties about two months ago that delayed delivery. We do not know if the release was expected in these months or later, in any case it seems that now the situation is calm and that Nintendo is preparing for the big announcement.

In particular, the technical difficulties found by Monolith Soft would have concerned the Nintendo Switch hardware. The reason for these problems was found in the too high performance compared to the possibilities of the Nintendo console, as unlike the previous chapters, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will have more massive fights: larger game party but above all more enemies to face on the screen. To conclude, Imran Khan also talked about the characters of the game and the setting: according to the insider Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will take place at some future time after Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but there will be characters originating from the first two chapters of the saga, something that Khan calls it "what fans would expect".

We have no other details about this from Khan, but we can make some hypotheses based on the double character of Pyra / Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 made official on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate a few months ago, just a few months later the record launch of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch: in a nutshell, before COVID-19 came to slow everything down, probably the fighter from Xenoblade was also expected to be the driving force for the arrival of the third chapter of the saga. In any case, awaiting official information, we hope that the new game will appear in an upcoming Nintendo Direct.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Rumored To Be Revealed Later This Year

Rumors that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is in development are picking up steam, with an announcement possibly due before the end of the year.

According to a new report by Fanbyte, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was set to be revealed earlier this year, but as with many other games it has reportedly been hampered by issues related to the pandemic.

Monolith Soft has also reportedly had difficulties optimizing the game for Nintendo Switch. It is said to be aiming for more character models on screen than any game in the series to date.

The rumors are supported by earlier comments by voice actress Jenna Coleman, who plays Antiqua in the original Xenoblade Chronicles. In a video first released back in June, she talked about how she first got the role, and hinted that a third game might be in development.

'It was through my voiceover agent and I did it… god, when was the first game? Ten years ago? It was a long time ago,' Coleman said. 'I did it pre-Doctor Who days and then when they did the second one, they asked me to come back.'

YESNO

'And I think they're going to do another,” she added. 'Common knowledge? Don't know... Yeah I think they're going to do another... Not sure if I'm allowed to say that.'

The Top 25 Switch Games (Fall 2020 Update)

First released in 2010, Xenoblade Chronicles has found success over the past decade as one of Nintendo's flagship RPGs. A sequel was released shortly after the launch of the Nintendo Switch, with a Definitive Edition remaster launching last year.

The Definitive Edition's Future Connected DLC heavily hinted at the possibility of a sequel. According to Fanbyte, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is unlikely to make its original 2021 target, but it could arrive in the first half of 2022.
