Cyberpunk 2077: Big update is said to be imminent, over 38 GB in size

Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red seems to be working on a major update for Cyberpunk 207 7. As the user "PricklyAssassin" reports on Reddit, he found out with the Epic Inspector program that there is already a 38.2 gigabyte patch in the Epic Games Store. The developers are said to have already uploaded the update to Steam and GOG. A look at the SteamDB portal shows that at least one current testing branch has been uploaded, which may be intended for internal testing purposes.

The Reddit user assumes that the new Cyberpunk 2077 (buy now 38.11 €) Update will be available for download for players in "two to three weeks". He considers it unlikely that the patch will add new content for the action role-playing game. Rather, additional bug fixes and optimizations could be in the foreground.

In addition, the user reports that all data relating to add-ons for Cyberpunk 2077 has been removed from the Epic Games Store and the DLC tab has been deactivated. The button is still available on Steam. It is unclear whether changes may be pending in the planned expansions. So far it is only certain that both smaller free DLCs and paid add-ons are to appear for Cyberpunk 2077.

The Reddit user suspects that this could be in connection with a DLC management function that is playing an upcoming update. Such a feature has not yet been discovered in data mining of current game versions. It remains to be seen whether the information is true. CDPR has not yet commented on this topic.

Cyberpunk 2077’ Is Getting Roasted For Its ‘By The Numbers’ Campaign

By the Numbers

u/BesterSpieler0

There has been effectively zero real Cyberpunk 2077 news for a while now, outside of the game returning to the PlayStation store where it topped the download charts last month. Players are waiting for any signs of life about new development for the game, including promised free DLC and the next-gen upgrade of the game, both said to be coming before the end of the year after lengthy delays.

So instead, Cyberpunk is posting more or less filler on its social media timelines, alternating between brief bios of random Night City characters, but also a “Cyberpunk by the Numbers” campaign that shows off different, mostly meaningless stats about player activity in the game. Such as:

Or:

It’s…whatever, but fans have now started mocking it in a way the reflects on Cyberpunk’s broken promises and missed potential over at the nearly 900,000 member strong community on the subreddit. This has resulted in a lot of pretty funny parodies of the concept that I’ve been enjoying over the course of the last days. Here are some of my favorites:

They’re not all zeroes. We also have:

This is what fans do when they have nothing else to go on. We are now well into July and there’s still not even a whiff of information about when Cyberpunk is planning to even release information about what its upcoming free DLC will contain.

Those trolling the Epic Game Store for potential information about Cyberpunk’s future believe they’ve discovered a massive 38 GB patch coming up in the next few weeks, but I’m not sure how reliable that is, or what it might contain. Apparently placeholder DLC information that used to be there has been stripped away, so it’s unclear what’s going on.

CDPR is working on the game, that much is clear, but they have never, ever communicated their plans or timelines up front, so fans are left to guess when and what patches are coming. Many are hoping the free DLC addresses at least some of these issues in the memes above like player and car customization, but nothing seems guaranteed at this point.

More to come, where there’s something to actually report.
