Electric hypercars, the 5 most interesting models on the market
The technological revolution brought about by the spread of electric motors is changing the panorama of the automotive market: if on the one hand we already have a good selection of small city cars perfect for our chaotic cities, on the other hand 2020 saw a large number of cars with very high performance - more commonly called 'hypercar' - able to offer mind-boggling technical specifications, absolutely unattainable with a heat engine. Purists will have to make a decision, the world of hypercars will soon be invaded by a wide range of electric proposals suitable almost exclusively for the pockets of the richest people on the planet. A form of environmentalism for the more affluent categories, which simply gives us the joy of being able to admire - and tell you about - these crazy cars. Let's find out together which are the most interesting proposals arrived on the market - or presented, some only on paper - during the past year.

Rimac C_Two Let's start with one of the more concrete proposals, as it is already available for purchase - starting from 2 million euros - with the first deliveries expected in the first months of 2021: we are talking about the Rimac C_Two, the Croatian company's second effort after Concept One. The C_Two, of which we have talked to you in recent weeks, also telling you about the tour of the headquarters that Nico Rosberg had the opportunity to do during the purchase of his C_Two model, offers absolutely stratospheric performances: in fact we find 4 electric motors installed on their respective wheels capable of delivering 1,914 horsepower and 2,300 Nm of torque, enough to push the car from 0 to 100 in just 1.8 seconds. With a top speed of 412 km / h, the Rimac C_Two is among the fastest cars in the world.

The Rimac C_Two is a concentrate of technology from all points of view: the car is built on the basis of a carbon monocoque frame, and offers a very advanced traction management system, able to adjust in a very precise way the amount of power supplied to each wheel, so as to maximize road holding.

Pininfarina Battista Let's now pass on to tell you about the most powerful hypercar ever made in Italy: it's called Pininfarina Battista, and it comes from designers of the Italian-German company Automobili Pininfarina. The Battista was designed in Italy, and in order to compete in the best possible way on the electric hypercar market, it could only have an absolutely crazy engine equipment: created in collaboration with Rimac for electrical mechanics, the Battista has 4 electric motors capable of to produce 1,900 horsepower, and an engine torque of 2,300 Nm, all installed on a chassis made entirely of carbon fiber which helps to reduce the overall weight of the car.

All this translates into one sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 2 seconds flat, and a top speed of 350 km / h. The autonomy, also thanks to the impressive 120 kWh battery pack, is 450 km on a single charge; the interiors, needless to say, are hyper-futuristic and are based on large digital screens installed horizontally along the dashboard.

The Pininfarina Battista will be produced in 150 units at the Cambiano plants, and will be sold for € 2 million.

Lotus Evija The third car we are telling you about is the Lotus Evija (pronounced "Evaia", meaning 'the first in history'), born following the acquisition of the Lotus brand by of the Chinese group Geely: also in this case we are faced with a car that will be produced in a limited edition of just 130 copies, for sale at the familiar figure of 2 million euros.

In order to maintain the weight of the Evija as low as possible - the car weighs 1,680kg overall, Lotus installed a 70 kWh battery pack on a carbon monocoque frame, and paired it with 4 electric motors capable of delivering a total power of 1,970 horses and 1,700 Nm of c opia. On paper, it should be slower than the cars we've already mentioned, with a sprint from 0 to 100 in just under 3 seconds, and a top speed of 320 km / h. According to some sources, production should have started towards the end of 2020, or at the latest it should start in the first weeks of 2021.

Tesla Roadster For the “impossible not to mention” category, comes the Tesla Roadster of course: Elon Musk's hypercar has suffered constant delays and in 2020 we still don't have an official launch date. If you are waiting for the release, put your heart in peace, because as of today we still don't know if 2021 will be the right year for the release of the Roadster.

The second generation of Tesla Roadster is a 2 coupe +2 seats, with a removable glass roof. The car is powered by 3 electric motors, one on the front axle and two on the rear axle, so as to allow four-wheel drive and precise torque management when cornering. Tesla said it intends to install a 200 kWh battery on the Roadster, exactly double the capacity of the largest battery Tesla offers to date, and which will allow the car to have a range of around 1000 km. All this, however, without forgetting performance: the Roadster will go from 0 to 100 km / h in 1.9 seconds, and will have a top speed of over 400 km / h. In this case, the purchase price is less prohibitive than the 2 million euros of the electric monsters we told you about: the Tesla Roadster will be sold for $ 200,000, and can already be booked by paying a deposit of $ 50,000.

Alieno Arcanum The last car we are talking about today is the most incredible of all: it is called Arcanum, born from a Bulgarian company called Alieno, and is able to deliver - in its most powerful configuration - a good 5,221 horsepower and 8880 Nm of torque, enough to reach a top speed of 488 km / h practically a new world record. Yes, you read that right, they are not typos.

Speaking of the Arcanum, a word that in Latin means "the secret of secrets", the CEO of Alieno talks about a futuristic hypercar, capable of offering superiority unparalleled technique. As this is the debut car of the Bulgarian brand, we reserve some doubts about it, nevertheless we remain curious to find out which technological prodigies Alieno will be able to integrate into the Arcanum; the company plans to incorporate artificial intelligence systems to allow the car to collect driving style data in order to help the driver reach the maximum potential the car has to offer.

The Alieno Arcanum will be offered in 4 versions, and in its most powerful version it can accommodate 24 small electric motors - all individually controlled - which allow the car to deliver the awesome performance we have already mentioned. The battery capacity may vary according to the use you want to make of the car: the "Race" battery pack will be just 60 kWh, so as to reduce the overall weight, while the Street battery pack brings the size to 180 kWh, enough to travel 1020 km on a single charge. The price starts at € 750,000 and goes up to € 1,500,000 for the 5,221 horsepower version.

Porsche Taycan Okay, I lied to you, there is another car we want to mention, a ' supersport electric car that represents the cheapest alternative to all these crazy cars today: it is the Porsche Taycan, Porsche's first electric proposal, which we have already told you about on various occasions. In the 4S version, the Taycan has a starting price of € 110,017, which will certainly not be a figure within anyone's reach but is much lower than the various € 2 million proposals that we have told you about in this article.
In the test he carried out, our youtuber friend Matteo Valenza was really impressed by the quality and performance of the Porsche Taycan. The historic Stuttgart manufacturer has decided to install 2 synchronous motors on its Taycan, capable of delivering up to 751 horsepower and going from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.8 seconds in the Turbo version: with data of this type, a Taycan Turbo S has little to envy to the various Rimacs or Pininfarina Battista. The autonomy with a single charge in this case is between 350 and 450 km, depending on the version of the car chosen and therefore the battery pack installed, but even in the case of the most expensive version ever, the price of the Taycan does not exceeds 200,000 euros.
