James Gunn confirms The Batman will move to DC Films



After moving as co-head of DC Studios, James Gunn has confirmed that The Batman and all previous DC Universe films will remain under the DC Films banner. This also includes Todd Phillips' next film, Joker: Folie à Deux, set outside the DCU.

Asked by another user if Gunn had talked to Matt Reeves after the formation of DC Studios, Gunn replied, “Sure. It was one of my first phone calls after the announcement ". James Gunn sparked the discussion further when he started the thread with a photo of Lobo, leading many to speculate that he was hinting at the character's inclusion in the DCU.

Gunn and Peter Safran became co-managers of DC Studios on November 1, 2022. The duo will oversee film, television and animation production under the DC label, reporting directly to WarnerBros Discovery CEO David Zaslav. Gunn and Safran will also work alongside heads of other divisions as the former oversees the creative development of DC projects, while the latter will deal largely with the production side.
