The nominations have been announced for the ENNIE Awards 2021, the prestigious international award for role-playing games. For the Italian role-playing scene these nominations have reserved more than a surprise, as in the shortlist of candidates for the awards we find two entirely Italian products: Brancalonia and Broken Compass.

The ENNIE Awards, simply renamed the ENNIES, are an annual celebration organized by fans, aimed at rewarding excellence in tabletop role-playing games, with the aim of giving game designers, through the popular online vote, writers and artists the recognition they deserve. The 2021 edition of this award saw the jury engaged in the difficult task of selecting a series of products and contents that were born, commercially speaking, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The complete list of the nominations of the 2021 edition includes some of the most relevant and innovative titles launched during the course of 2020, in addition to the aforementioned Brancalonia and Broken Compass, to contend for the prizes of the various categories there will also be, among others, Alice Is Missing, ALIEN RPG, Eyes Unclouded, Vaesen - Nordic Horror Roleplaying, Cortex Prime Game Handbook and Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Broken Compass by Two Little Mice, was nominated in the Best Production Values ​​category with his Adventure Journal (Amazon Link). Broken Compass: Adventure Journal is an RPG in which players play Adventurers in search of a Treasure, revisiting the atmosphere of adventure classics such as Uncharted or Indiana Jones.

Brancalonia by Acheron Books (Link Amazon), on the other hand, brought home 4 different nominations: Best Electronic Book (best electronic product), Best Setting (best setting), Best Writing (best writing) and Product of the Year (product of the year). Brancalonia - Spaghetti Fantasy Setting Book is a manual that immerses players in a fantastic and picaresque version of Medieval Italy. Brancalonia revisits the classic fantasy hybridizing it with Italian pop culture such as Spaghetti Western.

The Ennie Awards 2021 nominees have been announced, highlighting the best of the tabletop RPG gaming world and with plans to announce the winners during Gen Con 2021.


Every year, the Ennie Awards — also known as 'The Ennies' — get together to recognize the best in tabletop RPGs. Partnering with Campaign Coins and Hit Point Press, the annual event recently revealed some shiny new medals designed by Campaign Coins for the winners.
