PlayStation, another remake on the horizon?

PlayStation, another remake on the horizon?

PlayStation

At PlayStation, it seems that we are moving towards the past, with a series of remakes that touch the strings of the most nostalgic. In addition to the possible re-release of the first The Last of Us, which we told you about in this news, there is now the possibility that other titles from the past will receive the same treatment. As usual, this information comes from the world of insiders and, in this case in particular, from the leaker KatharsisT, who exposed some information about projects that according to his figure would be in development for the new Sony home console.

Playstation The insider spoke referring to three titles in particular that could see the light on PlayStation 5. As for the remake speech, there was talk of "some titles of the Metal Gear Solid series", while the others are two projects on which there has been speculation for several years, namely a return of Silent Hill (with a change of development team) and a possible discussion on the return of Castlevania. All these three titles have a common denominator, namely Konami, publisher and developer of the three series, which have been frozen some time ago.

The remake of Metal Gear Solid is one of the most popular: it has always been a IP linked to the PlayStation world, a bit like Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil. We are also talking about a project that a refurbishment process could really do well for. According to other theories that emerged online at work on the re-release of the first chapter (or of the first three, considering the insider's claims) there would be Bluepoint Games, a development studio that is very close to the Sony world and that has worked on several re-editions, the last one. by Demon's Souls.

But be careful not to get caught up in the heat: in fact, a new Silent Hill has been talked about for some time, even with Kojima at the helm (which, however, the latest rumors would like to be very close to Xbox). Also as regards Metal Gear Solid the situation is complex: an exclusive remake on PlayStation would go against the trend on the new Konami, which also published a collection containing some chapters of the famous saga also on Xbox 360.

There is then a third possibility: actually the remakes at PlayStation are a bit on the agenda and it is not excluded that many leakers have misunderstood the material received. In fact, it is not excluded that all the information to which they had access did not actually refer to the development of the new edition of The Last of Us, of which we have a concrete trace to date given the high reliability of Jason Schreier.

To find out more, it will obviously be necessary to wait for E3 2021 or rather the approach of summer. PlayStation could in fact launch a State of Play, formalizing or revealing to the world new projects and possible remakes. Although, perhaps, Sony's move could even be to wait, to have a more favorable launch window thanks to a larger installed base than the new PlayStation 5. In times of COVID-19, in fact, it could be a risk to announce another important production in the face of a small distribution of the gaming machine that should host it

Metal Gear Solid is not just video games: a beautiful book is available on Amazon that tells the genesis of Hideo Kojima's masterpiece.

PS5 Report Claims Classic PlayStation Series Is Being Remade

A new PS5 report claims that a classic PlayStation series is being remade for the new Sony console. There are many games from yesteryear that PlayStation didn't make that are synonymous with the PlayStation brand. Some of the best examples of this are the early Metal Gear Solid games, which are apparently being remade for the PS5 by Bluepoint Studios, the team behind the recent PS5 remake of Demon's Souls, plus Gravity Rush Remastered and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

When it comes to remakes and remasters, Bluepoint has earned a reputation for being one of the best in the business. Whether or not this rumor is true or not, remains to be seen, but if there was going to be a studio to remake or remaster the early Metal Gear Solid games for PS5, you'd want that studio to be Bluepoint.

As for the rumor itself, it comes the way of industry insider and leaker 'KatharsisT,' who has relayed accurate information before it was announced in the past, but they've also been off the mark on occasion. That said, this information, in particular, has apparently been vetted by the mods of Reset Era.

Unfortunately, the leaker does not disclose any additional details on this undertaking, and right now it's wholly unclear what games are being remastered/remade, though it's clear it's more than one.

Adding to this, the leaker also notes that a new Silent Hill game for PS5 is indeed still in development, but apparently, it's with a new studio. After months and months of rumors and reports about a Silent Hill PS5 exclusive, the rumor mill has gone dry completely. It's been months since we've heard anything about Silent Hill in relation to PS5, and this studio change may be the reason why.

All of that said, take all of with this a grain of salt. Everything here is unofficial, and in some capacity, we've been hearing a variety of these two rumors for months now with, so far, no payoff.

At the moment of publishing, none of the implicated parties -- Sony, Bluepoint, or Konami -- have commented on any of the information above. It's unlikely any of these three entities will comment, but if any or all do, we will update the story accordingly.
