Call of Duty Warzone: Update 1.33 released, patch notes and size

Call of Duty Warzone

Only recently was the starting shot for Season 2 of the Battle Royale offshoot Call of Duty Warzone, which is supposed to bring some fresh air. However, at the same time, several problems emerged that the fans were struggling with. Raven Software, the development studio responsible next to Infinity Ward, switched quickly and released a first update to get things under control again. Update 1.33 is now available for download on both PC and consoles. Depending on the platform, it is between 240 megabytes and 2 gigabytes in size.

However, the patch does not make too many changes. Among other things, he takes care of a bug that could occur in Call of Duty Warzone (buy now) in connection with the Reactive Blueprints. That doesn't sound like a lot, but Raven Software is already working on the next update, which should take care of further bugs and problems.

'Call of Duty: Warzone' Update 1.33 Fixes Reactive Blueprints, Not Agency—Patch Notes

a man walking up a hill: © Raven Software/Activision 'Call of Duty: Warzone' update 1.33 has arrived to fix Reactive Weapon Blueprints. Read more about the patch below. 'Call of Duty: Warzone' is available now on PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.

Call of Duty: Warzone update 1.33 deployed Monday night, weighing 280MB on PS4, 800MB on Xbox and a whopping 2GB on PC.

Yet despite the immense girth of the Battle.net variant, the small console download doesn't actually do much. According to a tweet published by Warzone's developers at Raven Software, the fix only exists to address issues related to broken Reactive Blueprints.

'A Warzone update has gone live to address an issue with Reactive Blueprints. Another update is slated for later this week,' a post published Monday night reads.

The main issue being, of course, that the new Reactive Blueprints introduced at the start of Season 2 weren't functioning as originally intended. This is especially salient with regard to the Vulture Exo Blueprint unlocked at tier 95 of the latest Battle Pass. Reactive Blueprints have also become a staple of many recent in-game store bundles as well.

If the feature functions properly, the weapon is supposed to glow a different color depending on how many kills the user accrues over the course of a match. It transitions from blue to orange to red based on how well the player performs. Unfortunately, prior to installing this hotfix, those purchases weren't working as advertised.

As helpful as this fix may be to those who have either unlocked or invested in Reactive Blueprints, the 1.33 update has garnered its fair share of criticism from the Warzone community for seemingly prioritizing patches tied to microtransactions instead of gameplay.

The subject is particularly hot at the moment given that adjustments to the Agency, Wrapped Suppressor and GRU Cold War weapon attachments recently led to a significant nerf in bullet velocity.

Upon installing the Season 2 update last week, it became immediately clear this change made most Cold War weapons obviously inferior to their Modern Warfare counterparts. Especially considering how much emphasis had been placed on the Cold War weapon set up until now, the change created a shift in the meta that hasn't been appreciated by players.

Thankfully, Raven has responded to this fan outcry despite not yet offering an in-game fix for the problem. 'We will be returning the Agency/GRU/Wrapped Suppressors to their former glory in the next hotfix,' Raven tweeted last Thursday.

Given what we know today, then, it would appear that tweak won't make it to Warzone until later this week. An exact release date for the patch has not been publicly announced, but Warzone updates most often publish on Thursday afternoons.

For now the issue is simply listed as 'fix scheduled' in the Warzone community Trello. In other words, unless you've made a few specific purchases or unlocks, Warzone update version 1.33 does nothing for you.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
