LEGO Indiana Jones: first three revealed, new sets!

LEGO Indiana Jones

LEGO celebrates the return to cinemas of Indiana Jones with three new sets "taken" from the first films of the saga! Two of the new sets are inspired by Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, while a third set reproduces one of the most adrenaline-pumping scenes from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Let's discover them together!

All new sets will be available on lego.com, in LEGO (Certified Stores) starting April 1, 2023 .

Just like the sets of the recent LEGO Avatar theme, also in the case of our beloved Indy the first sets to hit the shelves are related to the previous films, while four more sets inspired by the new film Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny are expected for the upcoming summer. For the moment we only know the codes: 77016, 77017, 77018, 77019.

Continue to follow us to keep you updated, but in the meantime enjoy the trailer of the film which will soon be in theaters.

Let's go together to see the (first) new sets arriving in a few days. For set descriptions

LEGO Indiana Jones #77012 Fighter Plane Escape has everything kids need ages 8 and up for hours of creative play. The set includes buildable models of a Pilatus P-2 fighter plane with stud shooters attached to both wings, which can also be easily removed to recreate the tunnel scene, and a stolen Citroën convertible, complete with trunk on the back containing an umbrella and a gun. Also included in the set are three minifigures: Indiana Jones with open jacket, partially undone tie and his famous whip, his father Professor Henry Jones Sr. holding his diary journal and the fighter pilot.

In 2009, the same scene was already reproduced in the LEGO Indiana Jones set #7198 – Flight Escape .

LEGO Indiana Jones #77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb

The LEGO Indiana Jones #77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb set, inspired by the adrenaline-pumping escape scene from the snake-filled tomb seen in Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Ark Lost . The set includes the buildable model of the Pharaoh's temple consisting of 2 statues, a secret passage, a mummy. On the ground we find and inside the wall. In the center of the scene is a golden arch, under which is the Ark of the Covenant. One of the two statues can be overturned and then break through the back wall. There is also an opening in the wall through which various snakes can be poured into the burial chamber. In the set we find 4 minifigures: Indiana Jones with his famous hat and whip, Marion Ravenwood, Sallah and a mummy, as well as the Ark of the Covenant.

This scene was also already reproduced some time ago, in the LEGO Indiana Jones #7621 Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb set from 2008. The dimensions of the new set and the older one are similar, but in the new set the back wall has been redesigned in a decidedly more sophisticated version, using different types of elements and therefore no longer requires large stickers. Of course we also find some in the new set, but only in order to reproduce the different hieroglyphics. The relatively simply built Anubis statues in the 2008 set have been replaced by two much larger and more detailed statues.

LEGO Indiana Jones 77015 The Temple of the Idol of 'gold

The LEGO Indiana Jones 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol set, also based on a scene from Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark, includes a buildable playset that reproduces the Temple in great detail of the Golden Idol that we see right at the beginning of the first film of the saga of the legendary archaeologist and professor. Packed with interactive features, the model features a base with 4 knobs that you can operate to lower and light up the idol, bring down a wall, swing Indiana Jones through a cave, lower a trap door and see Indy being chased by a huge boulder. The setting of the playset is that of a diorama, just like for the set of another cinematic theme, the LEGO Jurassic World #76956 Escape from the Tyrannosaurus .

Unlike the other two sets , the playset is designed for adult Indiana Jones fans as well as experienced LEGO builders and movie buffs. In fact, this model also rests on a black base and also in this case on the front we find a quote from the film from which it is inspired (in both cases, just like in the Jurassic Park diorama set above). The quote chosen reads:

“Let's hurry up. There is nothing to fear here” – Satipo

“This is what scares me” – Indiana Jones

There are also other stickers in the set, but there are also various decorative elements printed . Included in the set are 4 minifigures: Indiana Jones, Satipo, Belloq and a Hovitos warrior.

Pieces: 1,545 Minifigures: 4 Price: €149.99

This set had also already been produced some time ago, in 2008. We are talking about the LEGO Indiana Jones #7623 – Escape from the Temple set: designed in the form of a real playset, it was a bit ' bigger than the new diorama-style version.

In recent months, several  rumors had circulated regarding the future launch of these sets and all of them mentioned a fourth set, "coming from" from the second film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom , also a reinterpretation of a vintage set from 2009: LEGO Indiana Jones #7199 – The Temple of Doom .

LEGO Indiana Jones 77014 – The Temple of Doom< /h3> The new version of the Temple of Doom of the set LEGO Indiana Jones 77014 – The Temple of Doom should have consisted of 801 pieces and a price of i €79.99. In the center would have been the temple, raised on a pedestal of gray stones, around which several orange-colored pieces representing the lava were then built. In the background of the pedestal there would have been a large statue of Kali, as well as the skull altar on which to place the three Sankara stones, which would have been illuminated using the special light brick. A trap door in the center of the platform would open, just like in the film. On the tracks two minecarts could have rolled and the contents of the buildable model of a water tower could have been poured onto the tracks. There would have been six Minifigures included in the set: Indiana Jones with an open shirt, Willie Scott, Shorty, Mola Ram, the Maharaja and a Thuggee guard. But why this intensive use of the conditional form? Because the set has apparently been canceled or even no longer produced, a decision made by LEGO (rumored) as a result of a select group of people expressing themselves negatively on Twitter regarding the fact that the film "mentioned ” from the set contained references to child slavery, stereotyping of South Asian people, “devil” worship, a white savior storyline, temple being a place for human sacrifice etc.

Pieces : 1,545 Minifigures: 4 Price: €149.99

The set still looked significantly better than its 2009 predecessor.
