Concorso di Eleganza Villa d'Este 2023

The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este is an elegance competition dedicated to cars which has been held every year since 1929 on the shores of Lake Como, in Villa d'Este and Villa Erba, generally between April and May. The main prize, known as the Coppa d'Oro, is awarded to the car with the most beautiful bodywork, awarded through a referendum among the visitors to the competition.

Organized for the first time in 1929 by the Grand Hotel Villa d' Este and the Automobile Club of Como, canceled in 1937 and re-launched in 1947, the competition awarded prizes to models that have made the history of the automobile; from the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Coupé to the Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8, up to the more modern Aston Martin One-77 and Alfa Romeo Disco Volante by Touring.

During the event, more prizes can be awarded in addition to the prestigious Cup Golden ; in fact, it is not uncommon to vote for the Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes. The Competition is a real stage to all intents and purposes, for historic cars, cars still in their embryonic stage and prototypes. This year the appointment is set from 19 to 21 May, precisely from Friday to Sunday.

--> As mentioned at the beginning, the Villa d'Este Elegance Competition is held in Cernobbio, on the shores of Lake Como, in the splendid neo-Renaissance villas Villa d'Este and Villa Erba.

--> The Competition program is always very defined and full of appointments, even if it is always possible to admire the cars parked inside the courtyards of the Villas, so as to be able to admire the splendid specimens destined for voting more closely. This year the cars that will participate in the Concorso di Eleganza Villa D'este will be divided into eight specific categories:

Class A: a century of the 24 hours of le mans: heroes of the most famous race in the world ; Class B: the fast and the formal: pre-war high speed luxury; Class C: grande vitesse: pre-war weekend racers; Class D: incredible india: the dazzling motoring indulgences of the mighty maharajas; Class E: porsche at 75: delving into the Stuttgart legends iconic and eccentric back catalogue; Class F: granturismo: experimenting with the post-war european gt; Class G: that 'made in Italy' look: styles which conquered new worlds; Class H: here comes the sun: 'topless' done differently! In addition, prizes will be awarded in a special category for “spectacular concept cars from various manufacturers” to be held on Saturday.

The Best of Show will be crowned by the Jury and the vehicle in question will be awarded the BMW Group Trophy on Sunday evening. In addition to the first prize, the participants and the vehicles competing in the Concours will compete for victory in their respective categories, for the Gold Cup awarded by public vote and for a number of other awards such as the President's Trophy, which will be presented by Helmut Käs , head of BMW Group Classic and President of the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.

Sunday 21 May 2023 will be the day dedicated to the public and the BMW Group will be present at the event with some special vehicles: a very special BMW M car, a MINI Cooper SE Convertible and an electric scooter. In addition, the all-electric M Performance model of the BMW 7 Series will be on display. In addition to this, the BMW Group will also present the new BMW 3.0 CSL joined by its ancestor, the BMW 3.0 CSL from 1973.

For lovers of luxury and refinement, Rolls-Royce will be exhibiting its electric Specter for the first time, a super coupé with almost 600 electric horsepower at a cost of 400 thousand euros (starting from!).

--> Before the start of the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, the now traditional Prelude Tour will be held and this year a stop will be made at the Monza racetrack. The cars will arrive in Cernobbio in the late afternoon of 18 May and will be on display to the public.
