Gemma Levinson oversees the project for Automatik, while Tetsu Fujimura for Filosophia. India Osborne, Pierre Buffin and Jason Speer are executive producers.

Kolstad said:

Ever since my brother introduced me to the world of Hellsing I have been obsessed with adapting it and finally thanks at Amazon Studios this dream of mine becomes reality.

Mike Callaghan added:

I have always loved vampire stories especially those in which the authors are able to revisit them in an original way as in the case of Hellsing, when Derek introduced me to Alucard and the Hellsing Organization quickly realized we had something special on our hands. Kouta Hirano's vision is an incredible reinterpretation of the myth of Dracula and Van Helsing in a mix of action, horror and black humor.

Hellsing, the manga and anime

Hellsing, written and illustrated by Kohta Hirano, was published between 1997 and 2008 in Young King OURs magazine by Shonengahosha. The 92 chapters were then collected into 10 tankobons. In Italy, the manga was published by J-Pop in both standard and deluxe editions.

Here is a brief synopsis:

For several generations, the Hellsing family has taken care of England and protected it from the evil forces that stir in the shadows. But now the family heir, Integra Hellsing, faces a new threat: the proliferation of the Freaks, a new wave of artificially created vampires that is spreading terror across the country.

The manga was then adapted into an anime series in 2001 of 13 episodes developed by Fuji TV and Pioneer LDC and made by Studio Gonzo (Chrono Crusade), which arrived for the first time in Italy thanks to Fool Frame on DVD and then revived by Dynit.

A second anime series, consisting of 10 OVA, was produced by Geneon Universal Entertainment, StudioRF Inc. and Shonengahosha and created by Madhouse, Satelight and Graphinica. The OVAs were released between 2006 and 2021.

In Italy the first four OVAs were published by Kazé in collaboration with J-Pop, the complete series was then revived and completed by Dynit both on DVD and in Blu-ray.

Both anime are available on Amazon Prime Video in streaming.
