Fortnite down: The servers for the Battle Royale shooter are currently offline. Today we have the update at 4 p.m. and the start of season 6. The developers use the short message service Twitter to provide further information on the downtime. The servers have been offline since 5 a.m. Since then it has not been possible to log in or join the game. How long Fortnite remains offline is not clear from the information. But because the big solo event is supposed to start around 9 a.m., it can be assumed that the maintenance work will be completed by then. The developers write that the downtime will be ended on all platforms at the same time.

However: The times of the patch rollouts on the individual platforms may vary within the downtime. In addition, Epic Games writes that the 16.00 update is definitely bigger than the previous patches. This is due to the new content that will be installed for Season 6. The specific patch notes with details on the changes and innovations are not yet available. There’s a lot of leaks surrounding the latest Season of Fortnite, so if you haven’t checked them out already, there’s information about the possible new Battle Royale Map. That’s not all though, it looks like Lara Croft may be joining the Fortnite universe in Chapter 2: Season 6.

As of writing, it’s been quite a few hours since the server went offline, so when can we expect the downtime to end and Season 6 begin?

When Will They Be Back Online?

Well, according to the official @FortniteStatus account on Twitter, the beginning of Chapter 2: Season 6 could vary depending on the platform. Players are likely to receive the patch downloads at different times depending on what platform you play on, there’s no confirmation but one console may get the update slightly later than the other. Fingers crossed that downtime ends soon and all platforms are updated at the same time!


Based on previous season updates, downtime can vary anywhere between 3 hours and 6 hours, which means we shouldn’t have much longer to wait until the Fortnite server is officially back online and players can begin downloading the patch for Chapter 2: Season 6.
