Edens Zero - the anime will arrive on Netflix

The official channels of the anime and the youtube channel Netflix Anime have released a new trailer of Edens Zero which not only confirms the debut date of the series by Hiro Mashima (Rave, Fairy Tail) officially set for next 11 April at 00: 55 on the screens of the Japanese broadcaster NTV but also the arrival, in the course of 2021, of the anime itself on Netflix.

Edens Zero, the anime

The Edens Zero anime will be developed by Studio J.C. Staff (DanMachi, Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma). The direction will be entrusted to Yuji Suzuki (Fairy Tail Season 3) while the screenplay will be by Mitsutaka Hirota (Phantasy Star Online 2 The Animation). The character design instead will be by Yurika Sato (former animation director in Hangyakusei Million Arthur 2nd Season).

Last September at the Tokyo Game Show (which we remember took place in a completely digital version due to the health emergency caused by the Coronavirus epidemic) during the panel entitled "Edens Zero Game and Anime Live Stream" the first details of the anime were provided, including the first character designs of the protagonists Shiki, Rebecca and Happy:

Edens Zero, the manga

Edens Zero is still being published in Japan in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine where it premiered on June 27, 2018; to the assets there are 12 volumes with the 13th scheduled for next January 15, 2021 in Japan. While in Italy Edizioni Star Comics has recently published the 7th volume.

In the intentions of Hiro Mashima, the series should be longer than Rave, which lasted 35 volumes, but shorter than Fairy Tail which instead came to well 63 volumes.

Here is the synopsis from Edens Zero Vol. 1:

Young Shiki lives on planet Granbell together with the robots that animate a huge theme park. One day two visitors arrive, the first to set foot on Granbell in nearly a century: Rebecca, a young creator of digital content, and her blue cat Happy. The three immediately get along and become friends ... They still don't know that this meeting will change their destinies!

Edens Zero Confirms Netflix Release with New Trailer

Edens Zero has confirmed its coming to Netflix with a new trailer! Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail was one of the most popular action anime and manga franchises during its peak, so fans have been highly anticipating the anime debut of Mashima's newest series, Edens Zero. Currently heading towards an April release in Japan, the newest trailer for the series has confirmed for fans outside of Japan that Edens Zero will be streaming with Netflix! Unfortunately as fans have come to know from Netflix licenses of major releases like this, it's going to be a bit of a wait before fans around the world can check out this one.

Edens Zero has confirmed that it will be streaming with Netflix some time later this year. To celebrate it coming to Netflix soon (unfortunately seemingly not as soon as its upcoming April premiere in Japan), the series has released a full trailer for the new anime that gives us our first real look at Hiro Mashima's newest world and characters. You can check it out in the video above!

Directed by Fairy Tail director Shinji Ishihara for J.C. Staff, the main cast of the series currently includes the likes of Takuma Terashima as Shiki Granbell, Mikako Komatsu as Rebecca Bluegarden, Rie Kugimiya as a new version of Happy, Shiki Aoki as Homura Kogetsu, Hiromichi Tezuka as Weisz Steiner, Shiori Izawa as E.M. Pino, Sayaka Ohara as Elsie Crimson, Houchu Ohtsuka as Ziggy, and Kikuko Inoue as Mother.

Netflix officially describes Edens Zero as such, 'It is the year X492, an age in which people freely travel through the universe. Rebecca, a video-creating B-Cuber, visits the robotic world of Granbell and meets a young man with special powers: Shiki, who’s lived his entire life among machines. Soon Shiki is exploring the cosmos with Rebecca, encountering new places, people and things, and making friends along the way. Join in the adventure starting in 2021 on Netflix.'

There are still various details for Edens Zero's new anime still under wraps such as the episode order, but these details will be revealed closer to its release in Japan this April and worldwide release later this year.
