Redout 2, the Wipeout-style racing game postponed

Redout 2

Italian Redout 2 development team 34BigThings announced that the game has been postponed. The title was previously expected for May 26, 2022, so the postponement comes within a few days of the expected release. As well as the first chapter, released in 2016, this new game will also be a tribute to racing games in the style of Wipeout. The team promises crazy circuits and supersonic speed races on vehicles inspired by the sci-fi imaginary.

The postponement of Redout 2 was communicated with a tweet on the official page of the game by the developers themselves. With a lot of irony, the post states that the fastest racing game in the universe still takes some time to get ready. Fans will therefore have to be patient for a few more weeks before they can experience the experience offered by the 34BigThings title. The new date, in fact, is not too far from the original one, a sign that the jobs that the title requires are not excessive.| ); }

In statement the developer said: “Hello Redout fans, We know you have been eagerly awaiting the release of Redout 2 later this month, but unfortunately, the fastest racer in the universe needs just a little more development time before it’s ready to go and will now launch on June 16 on PC, PS5|4, XSX|X1 & Switch. This will help ensure we’re firing on all cylinders out of the gate and delivering the best gameplay experience for everyone. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to racing with you all soon!

In our preview for Redout 2, Dom wrote: “Redout 2 really beds into its unique world vision of the future, and as a weapon-less racer there’s a purity to the on-track action that remains refreshing. While some may decry the loss of the original’s armaments, it means that this is a racer that lives and dies on your own abilities, and there’s none of those arbitrary Mario Kart-esque moments where you’re beaten by a lucky offensive pickup.

Anyone that has played the original knows how important the soundtrack was to the experience, and Redout 2 already sounds like it’s going to repeat the feat. Bringing in artists like Giorgio Moroder, Zardonic and Dance with the Dead, our preview gave us a thumping taste of atmospheric electronica. Further dynamic changes reflect the on-track action, so you have moments such as the music amping up on the final lap of each race, raising the adrenaline levels and cranking the atmosphere to incredible levels at the perfect time. It’s brilliant, heart-thumping stuff.”
