At the dawn of a new danger, it's time to awaken Super Hero!

What we know about Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

21st animated film and second to merge into the Dragon Ball Super era with story, character design and dialogues from Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball Super : Super Hero will be placed temporally immediately after the events of the battle against Broly faced in Dragon Ball Super: Broly (the first animated film to join the Dragon Ball Super franchise).

The story of the film takes place precisely after Dragon Ball Super: Broly and before the end of Dragon Ball Z with the 28th Budokai Tenkaichi tournament. This is the 21st animated film considering the entirety of the franchise and the 2nd to merge into the Dragon Ball Super era, which sees Akira Toriyama the same original story, dialogue and character design alongside Toei Animation. The film will be released in Japanese cinemas on 11 June 2022 and Gohan and Piccolo will be the main protagonists. An Italian screening date is not yet known.

The project will boast CGI components, largely departing from previous cinematographic experiences. Even Toriyama-sensei himself in the announcement comment had anticipated that the new animated film would have explored never before seen territories in terms of artistic aesthetics.

The plans for the new Dragon Ball Super movie have begun in 2018, even before the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly (released in 2018 in Japan; in 2019 in Italy), and will aim to tell a story full of spectacular fights capable of responding to the enthusiasm generated by success of the previous one.
