In the past 20 years or so, the video game
industry has gone through quite a number of changes. The biggest of which, of
course, is the wider, mainstream acceptance of gaming as a valid form of
entertainment, not just for children, but for people of all ages. Gone are the

being some of the most popular names in the gaming world. In this article, we
are going to take a look at the most popular heroes in League of Legends, which
have seen the most play in 2022.
Jinx
Is it any shock that Jinx was the most
popular hero in 2022? A machine-gun toting, rocket-launching,
explosive-hurling, eccentric girl, capable of laying waste to an army of
enemies, Jinx didn’t really need the popularity boost she got from the hugely successful
Arcane Netflix show (in which she
was the main character).
While Jinx began her story as an innocent
girl, with a knack for tinkering, she was transformed into the destructive
force we see in the game by a freak accident, which altered her physiology, as
well as her psychology.
Aphelios
In terms of mechanics, Aphelios is a hard
counter for Jinx. A diverse marksman and long-range fighter, Aphelios players
can stay far away from Jinx’s explosives, all the while sniping from a safe
distance. In 2022, thus far, Aphelios has been among the most picked characters
in tournaments, and in casual play.
However, it isn’t just the mechanics that
make Aphelios so beloved. With a cool, dark look, a bit on the edgy side,
Aphelios will certainly appeal to fans of darker fantasy shows and novels, and
will certainly be the go-to choice of World of Warcraft
fans who have mained Night Elves throughout their gaming career.
Shen
One of the elite warriors known as Kinkou,
Shen is a mystical ninja, which already nets him a huge amount of fans. Magic
and ninjas seem to be the two most beloved things in popular culture, and
coupling that with the fantastic abilities which Shen can use, it is very
little surprise that he is among the most picked LoL heroes of all time.
Darius
Finally, we get to Darius. The classic
example of an armored knight, Darius is a battle-hardened, axe-toting leader of
men, much in the same vein as some of Fantasy’s greatest characters, such as
Conan the Barbarian and Druss the Legend. His “Hemorrhage” ability is one of the
best, and most beloved in the game, and coupling that with his fantastic design
and backstory, makes Darius one of the first choices of any player, new and
seasoned.
