Oddworld: Soulstorm, frame rate problems on PS4 and 30 fps on PC: the analysis of DF

Oddworld

Oddworld: Soulstorm runs pretty well on PC and PS5, consistently maintaining 60 fps, but apparently the PS4 version of the game has major frame rate problems.

This is revealed by the technical analysis carried out from Digital Foundry, which confirms 1440p at 60 fps on PlayStation 5 but also highlights some uncertainty and some shortcomings of antialiasing in the transition to final output at 4K.

The most significant drawbacks, however, are the performance on standard PS4: apparently there are sequences that drop down to 20 fps when the physics of the game is involved in an important way.

On PC there is also an annoying lock at 30 fps in terms of cutscenes , which instead run on the PlayStation 5 at 60 frames.

In the previous version of the news we erroneously spoke of a 30 fps block of the PC version also in the in-game sequences: we apologize for the oversight.

In addition to glitches and bugs even more In short, the developers of Oddworld: Soulstorm will also have to solve several performance issues on PS4 with the next updates.
