The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: The story

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, produced by Marvel Studios, will feature Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier. The duo will find themselves collaborating following the final events of Avengers: Endgame. The series will be part of Phase 4 of the MCU and, as in WandaVision, the events that take place during its six episodes will be set before Spider-Man - Far from Home.

The main storyline of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will see the two superheroes engaged in a global adventure alongside Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp): the heroes will have to stop a group the terrorist group known as the Flagbreaker and, at the same time, face the return of an old acquaintance, Sokovian Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl), who we have already seen as the criminal mastermind behind the events of Captain America: Civil War.

The series, as shown by the different trailers, will be an action with elements typical of Buddy cop, a genre in which the protagonists are characterized by opposite temperaments, often in conflict with each other, who find themselves forced to collaborate to solve a given situation. This stylistic element will make The Falcon and the Winter Soldier a completely different series from WandaVision, which instead was characterized by a cryptic and dense plot of twists. In this sense, the miniseries will be more like the narrative of a film, with a more linear but also more adrenaline-fueled narrative structure.

Which MCU films should you have seen?

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be a series that will refer directly to the personal stories of its protagonists, so we recommend watching the following films dedicated to them:

Captain America - The first Avenger Captain America: The Winter Soldier Captain America: Civil War Furthermore, the miniseries, as previously mentioned, will link directly with the epilogue of Avengers: Endgame, in which Cap decides to pass the baton, or rather the shield, directly into Sam's hands. The series may also have some points of contact with Black Panther and Wakanda, as during a certain period of time Bucky has found asylum with this African nation.

Alternatively, to prepare you at the debut of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier you can also recover, again on Disney +, Marvel Studios: Legends, which dedicated two summary episodes to the two protagonists of the TV series.
