'Final Fantasy VII Remake' to get PS5 upgrade, new Yuffie episode

Square Enix on Friday, February 26, announced Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, an upgraded PlayStation 5 (PS5) version of the hit 2020 RPG, coming out on June 10, 2021.

In a blog post, Square Enix said that the game's lighting, texture, and environment have been enhanced. Similar to many PS5 games today, it will have the ability to switch between graphics mode for 4K visuals or performance mode for 60 frames-per-second gameplay. A photo mode will also be introduced.

Other PS4 games that have received PS5 upgrades include Ghost of Tsushima and God of War.

A new episode will also launch alongside the game featuring Yuffie, originally a secret playable character in the original Final Fantasy VII on the PS1.

Those who already own the digital or physical PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake can upgrade to the PS5 version for free, and can carry over their save data. The new episode featuring Yuffie is not free, and will have to be purchased even by returning players.

Square Enix also put up a video showing off the new features on PS5:

A pre-order bonus, Yuffie's weapon Cacstar, is available for the digital version of the game. There will also be a digital deluxe edition of the game which will include a digital artbook and a digital mini soundtrack. – Rappler.com
