The Mandalorian 3: will Bo-Katan be the villain?

The Mandalorian 3

During the last Star Wars Celebration, among the many announcements they witnessed, Star Wars fans were also able to enjoy a teaser of the next season of The Mandalorian, the first live action TV series of the franchise that has become a real poet of comparison for all subsequent productions, from The Book of Boba Fett to Obi-Wan Kenobi. During the teaser shown, keeping in mind the final events of the second season of the series, it was natural to ask ourselves a question: will Bo-Katan Kryze be the villain of The Mandalorian 3?

Will Bo-Katan Kryze be the villain of The Mandalorian 3?

As we have seen in the previous season of The Mandalorian, Bo-Katan intends to recapture Mandalore and become its guide. This objective can only be achieved by wielding the Darksaber, the legendary lightsaber created by the only Mandalorian who became a Jedi, Tarre Vizsla, and has become over the centuries a symbol of aggregation for the different Mandalorian clans. This sword had come into possession of Bo-Katan during the events of Star Wars Rebels, but in the first season of The Mandalorian it had made its live action debut being wielded by Moff Gideon, who later lost it in a duel with Din Djarin.

The Mandalorian tradition has it that this weapon, given its importance, cannot be sold, but must be won in a duel. Which is why Bo-Katan could not accept that Din surrendered her to her, knowing that that gesture would invalidate his rise to the regent of Mandalore. Bo-Katan is obsessed with recreating the Mandaloria culture, a mission she has lived since she and a group of rebels opposed the imperial domination of Mandalore, a reaction that pushed the Empire to the Great Purge, a purge of the home world. of the Mandalorians, after which Mandalore became an inhospitable land.

In the teaser shown at the Star Wars Celebration, we could see two particular frames from The Mandalorian 3, one in which Bo-Katan seems to dominate Mandalore and one in which he is apparently dueling with Din Djarin. The latter, according to what is also seen in The Book of Boba Fett, is no longer even part of his clan, when he was banished following the confession of having betrayed the Way, the strict Mandalorian code of behavior, having shown his own aimed at strangers.

'The Mandalorian' season 3 is coming in February 2023 on Disney Plus

It's tough to imagine a more endearing pair than 'The Mandalorian's' Din Djarin and his infant alien companion, Grogu, and that was glaringly evident when the two were reunited in the closing episodes of Disney Plus's 'The Book of Boba Fett' and its wild season finale titled 'In the Name of Honor.'

Among last week's many announcements at Star Wars Celebration 2022 during the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase was an update on 'The Mandalorian' season 3, which had originally been slated to arrive this December but has now been pushed way out to February 2023.

When we last saw the soft-spoken bounty hunter and Baby Yoda (AKA Grogu), they were teaming up once again after Grogu chose Mando over Jedi training with Luke Skywalker and the two were speeding off in a souped-up N-1 Naboo starfighter to try and reclaim Mando's honor after being shunned and excommunicated by his Mandalorian clan for removing his helmet.

Grogu was also sporting his mini suit of Beskar chainmail given to him by Mando!

Prior to their team-up and mission to Mandalore, where Mando (Pedro Pascal) must redeem himself in The Living Waters, Baby Yoda was putting his potent Force skills to good use by saving his laconic partner from a deadly Scorpenek annihilator droid and a rampaging Rancor monster.

Lucky fans in attendance at Thursday's Star Wars Celebration were treated to an event-exclusive teaser focused on Mando's road to redemption beneath the mines of Mandalore, a reuniting with Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), outer space dogfights, and looming conflict with Bo-Katan Kryze (Katie Sackhoff) over true ownership of the coveted Darksaber and the right to rule the planet Mandalore.

She is painfully aware of the fact that her claim to the throne requires her to win back the legendary weapon from Mando, who had defeated Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) to snag it, but that's a seriously tall order.

Will Din Djarin ever be forgiven for his transgressions? We'll have to wait until next year to discover the answer to that vexing question.

'The Mandalorian' Season 3 is currently in pre-production and will arrive on Disney Plus in February 2023.
