Saints Row, the demo editor makes players go wild

Saints Row

Volition, developer of the Saints Row series, this week released a demo for the next reboot of its title. The announcement was made during the Summer Game Fest on June 9th. In this trial version, we will be able to try one of the game’s characterizing elements: the character editor. Boss Factory, this is the name of the demo, is now available for download on PC, Xbox and PlayStation and fans are already taking advantage of this possibility to recreate all kinds of characters.

The Boss Factory online gallery is, of course, already full of posts featuring the best creations. In less than 48 hours since its launch, fans have flooded the Saints Row Hall of Fame with strangely accurate reproductions of Morbius, Waluigi, Big Smoke, the Chad meme and more. Better yet, all of these bosses are available for download to your accounts, so you can use them within the full game when it's finally available.

As a testament to the quality of the new character creator, all recreated memes are immediately recognizable. In the Hall of Fame section at the time of writing, we find Shaggy in first place, followed by Walter White and Megamind. These creations are aided by the fact that pretty much everything in the Saints Row editor is spread over a single slider, giving us limitless possibilities when it comes to how we want to organize our character's face and body. A new feature even allows us to customize both sides of the face separately, leaving room for even more possibilities.

With more features coming in the final version, it remains to be seen what else fans will create by the end of the year. Even with the limited options we have available, players have no problem filling the front page with memes or even accurately recreating characters from other games. Saints Row will be available starting August 23, 2022 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Will There Be Multiplayer In Saints Row?

Saints Row is the first new game in the popular franchise since the release of Saints Row IV in 2013. Fans have been waiting for years for a proper follow-up to the successful fourth game. After nearly a decade, Saints Row developer Volition announced Saints Row at Gamescom in 2021. The new game will act as a reboot for the series as Volition tries to tone down some of the more wacky aspects that the games had become known for. Unlike Saints Row IV’s all-out mayhem, Volition hopes to strike a tone closer to Saints Row 2. Naturally, with any reboot, fans have questions. Questions like, will there be multiplayer in Saints Row?

Saints Row will have cooperative multiplayer at launch. Players will be able to drop in and out of their friends’ sessions to help them out with the missions in the game. Gamers will also be able to play Saints Row cooperatively across console generations. Meaning PS5 players can join their PS4 friends along with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One players also being able to play together. There’s no word on cross-platform (PlayStation and Xbox playing together, for example) support at this time.

There’s also no competitive multiplayer announced for the game, and with just a few weeks until the release in August, it’s unlikely that PVP multiplayer will be in the game.
