Microlino: versions, specifications and price of the small electric

Microlino

After a long development program, the Microlino is now ready to debut on the market. The new ultra-compact electric car is configurable and, above all, can be ordered. The first units of the small zero-emission vehicle developed by the Swiss company Micro Mobility will arrive on the market by the end of 2022. During the summer, deliveries of the Pioneer Series, the limited edition of the Microlino developed for the commercial launch, will begin.

Subsequently, during 2023, a substantial increase in availability is expected. The car arrives on the market in three different versions (Urban, Dolce and Competizione) and with prices from 14,990 euros. Since its debut, the Microlino has been characterized by its compact size and its iconic design. The new model is proposed on the market today as a concrete alternative to electric cars for completely zero-emission urban mobility, lots of practicality and substance and also a touch of style that certainly represents a plus of the project and could support its sales. , already in this first phase of the launch.

Despite its small size, there is a lot to say about the Microlino. The project has been the protagonist of a long development and has all the credentials to carve out its space on the four-wheeler market. Here is everything you need to know about the Microlino, starting with the technical specifications of the vehicle and up to the versions and equipment available to motorists interested in purchasing:

Dimensions

Let's start with one of the most characteristic aspects of the new Microlino: the dimensions. The electric is equipped with truly ultra-compact dimensions with a length of just 2.5 meters and a width of 1.47 meters. A quick comparison with the dimensions of the Smart ForTwo (also equipped with two seats) confirms the small footprint that characterizes the Microlino. The Smart is 2.7 meters long and 1.66 meters wide, making it significantly larger than the Microlino. Among the microcars, however, there are even smaller alternatives such as the Citroen Ami which is 2.4 meters long and 1.39 meters wide.

Cockpit

From the outside, the Microlino presents an already iconic design that will inevitably make it a protagonist (positive or negative, depending on the observer's tastes) of the European and Italian roads. Even inside the passenger compartment, however, there is certainly no lack of interesting elements worthy of further study. The small electric is equipped with a single door that allows access to the passenger compartment and which is located in the front. This is an unusual solution that also affects the internal design.

Behind the seats there is a small cargo space characterized by a total capacity of about 230 liters. A special rear hatch is available to access the compartment in question.

The technical details and performance of the Microlino

Let's now pass to one of the main elements of the Microlino project. The technical sector of the car is basic but not uninteresting for this reason. The vehicle can count on the thrust of a 12.5 kW engine capable of bringing the Microlino up to a maximum speed of 90 km / h with a 0-50 km / h sprint completed in 5 seconds. The performances, therefore, considering the type of car, are interesting. The engine also offers a maximum drive torque of 89 Nm.

Microlino As for the charging times, instead , it takes between 3 and 4 hours for a full charge. With the 6 kWh battery, a 1.35 kW charger is available while the other two variants can count on a 2.6 kW charging power that allows a reduction in the time required for a complete refueling, despite the increase in capacity.

Weight and capacity of the battery also influence the actual autonomy of the Microlino. The data provided by the company, in any case, confirm that the car is able to travel up to 230 kilometers. This level of autonomy is reached with the Large version (the 14 kWh) of the battery and use during the summer months. During the winter, in fact, the autonomy with the Large battery drops up to 184 kilometers.

Here are the data declared in all available configurations (both in winter and in summer) of the Microlino:

Battery Summer Winter Small (6 kWh) 95 kilometers 76 kilometers Medium (10.5 kWh) 175 kilometers 140 kilometers Large (14 kWh) 230 kilometers 184 kilometers

Who makes the Microlino?

The Microlino is a project by Micro Mobility Systems, a Swiss company active for several decades in the sector with various projects behind it. The production of the Microlino, however, takes place in Italy. The vehicle is, in fact, produced in the Cecomp di Torin o. As the official video published by Micro Mobility also suggests on the occasion of the start of production activities, Microlino is a "Made in Italy" project. It should also be noted that more than 80% of the car's components are produced within the borders of the EU.

Prices and versions of the Microlino: how much does the electric minicar cost?

The Microlino debuts on the market with the Pioneer Series, a special edition with a particularly rich equipment. This special series will arrive on European roads starting next summer. The asking price for the purchase of the special launch series of the small electric is € 20,999. To conquer the market, in any case, the company focuses on a particularly articulated range, with three configurations to choose the option that best suits your needs.

The list of Microlino starts from the Urban version, arriving on the market with a price of 14,990 euros. This is the entry level model of the range and, as such, will be the last to go into production with deliveries expected only from the second quarter of 2023. At least for the moment, this variant is only available in the Standard Range version, with the Small battery pack and, therefore, with a maximum autonomy of 95 kilometers.

The heart of the electric microcar range is, however, the Dolce version, available from € 17,070. In addition to offering more standard equipment and more colors for the body, this version of the Microlino is configurable with all three battery cuts. To switch to the Medium Range it is necessary to take into account an extra expense of 1,990 euros while for the Long Range version, with Large battery pack, an additional expense of 3,500 euros is required.

The top of the range is, instead , the Competizione version, available only in the versions with Medium and Large battery (+1,500 euros) with prices from 19,080 euros. This version has fewer customization options, with a more elegant look than the Dolce, designed instead for those looking for a more personal car. In any case, both versions will be available between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.

Why buy it

The Microlino is designed for use in an urban environment, with short zero-emission travel. This is a project that is going to enter a market segment which, over the next few years, could experience substantial growth. Those looking for a second car or in any case a means of getting around the city and with short or medium distances can, therefore, consider the new Microlino. Compared to electric cars (even the cheapest ones), the Micro Mobility quadricycle offers a net saving, even if accompanied by some waivers.

For many, however, it could be easy to turn a blind eye to these shortcomings and focus on the practicality and convenience of Microlino, net, of course, of accepting the design (iconic but inevitably destined to be discussed) of the model. Furthermore, those considering the purchase of a new Microlino have many options to choose the right model for their needs. The range includes three trim levels. The Urban model (arriving in late 2023) can already represent the right solution for everyday urban mobility.

The transition to more complete versions, both in terms of equipment and autonomy, can still represent the right choice, especially for more intensive use. These will be the first tests to reveal the real performance and practicality of the Microlino in real use conditions.
