WayRay develops the holographic windshield of the future

It is always fascinating to see the development of new technologies that until a few years ago could be considered science fiction: this is the case of the Swiss company WayRa y, which is working on the creation of a windshield of the future, able to offer valid support in terms of security thanks to the use of augmented reality. The project was presented together with the concept car on which it is installed; is called Holograktor, and was designed by Sasha Selipanov, who in the past has participated in important projects such as those of the Lamborghini Huracan and the Bugatti Chiron.

The windshield developed by WayRay is called Deep Reality Display HUD and, on the contrary to the current head-up displays that are only visible to those in the driver's seat, it offers the possibility for all car occupants to see what is happening on the windshield display. Thanks to a laser unit that generates RGB light beams, the dedicated control unit is able to generate images that are transmitted to the display integrated in the various layers of which the windshield is composed, so as to create an image with highly saturated colors. which will help the driver to notice more quickly any situations that require more attention. Thanks to the wide view and the ability to exploit the perspective, it is possible to see images projected at different distances, unlike the current head-up displays that project useful information at a distance of 7-10 meters, without the possibility of changing it.

The WayRay windshield-display is made in such a way as to comply with all the regulations in force in terms of homologation, and in fact the Swiss company hopes to enter the automotive market as a supplier of this new technology to existing manufacturers, rather than becoming a real automobile manufacturer.

It goes without saying that we are still in the initial stages of development and testing in the real world, but the Swiss company is already talking about possible integrations with the Facebook metaverse, or similar; there will be much to discuss, and it will certainly be necessary for the competent bodies to legislate in this regard, or in a moment we will find ourselves with windshields full of advertisements.
