According to a video from Tom Henderson, he claims that based on some information collected from a number of currents and former Quantic Dream developers, the studio is struggling with engine issues for developing Star Wars Eclipse.

As you may know, Quantic Dream has always worked on story-focused single-player games, where there aren’t many complicated gameplay mechanics, and players usually get to walk, choose dialogues, and push some buttons in high-octane scenes.

As a result, it seems like the internal engine of Quantic Dream is not capable of managing a massively multiplayer open-world title with lots of complicated gameplay systems and mechanics.

Tom Henderson claims that the purpose of agreeing to the acquisition by Tencent from Quantic Dream was to get more resources in order to expand the studio’s hardware capabilities and probably build a brand new engine.

As Henderson claims, a current developer from Quantic Dream has suggested that the studio might be completely acquired in the near future if Quantic Dream fails to gather the resource it needs for completing its ongoing Star Wars project, and some other unannounced projects as well.

All in all, Henderson claims that the game would probably need 5 years of development, which means it would be available later in 2026 or earlier in 2027.

That being said, all the information above is unofficial, and things might go on smoother than what has been claimed by the leaker. However, it’s still unlikely that Star Wars Eclipse come out earlier than 2025 unless with massive cut content, according to another source who previously leaked the release date of the trailer of the game.
