Nintendo Switch is the best-selling in the US in November 2021

Nintendo Switch continues to grind important numbers resulting in the best-selling console in the US also in November 2021, based on NPD data, but the market is still strongly affected by the shortage of stocks that particularly affects PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.

Nintendo Switch managed to reach 1.13 million units in November 2021, as regards the various models combined between standard, Lite and OLED, thus making it the best-selling console in the USA last month, which it also included the important period of Black Friday and Thanksgiving with miscellaneous expenses. The Nintendo console therefore continues to be the best-selling in American territory, as it has recorded this result for 35 of the last 36 months taken into consideration.

However, as reported by market analyst Daniel Ahmad, we must take into account other aspects of the November numbers as well, which show that the market is still quite in trouble.

As reported in the tweet, Nintendo Switch still sold less than in November 2020, while PS5 and Xbox Series X | S together sold almost as much as the total of Nintendo Switch, always remaining with limited stocks during the period taken under exam. Overall, the various consoles that were present on the market in the past years were selling more in some cases, as happened with the PS, Xbox One and Wii U in 2014, a year after the launch of the Sony and Microsoft consoles.

In the period of Black Friday, Nintendo Switch also recorded record sales in Italy and Europe, demonstrating the great success of the Nintendo console, after being the best-selling console in the US also in October 2021.

Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in the US in November 2021, while Call of Duty: Vanguard debuted atop the monthly software sales chart.

According to research firm the NPD Group, the Switch family of consoles sold 1.13 million units in November, with 550,000 sold during Thanksgiving week, making it the best-selling console over the Black Friday period.

Call of Duty: Vanguard - Multiplayer Trailer

Call of Duty: Vanguard was November’s top-selling game and instantly became the second best-selling game of the year so far, behind only 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, according to NPD analyst Mat Piscatella.

Battlefield 2042 debuted at No.2 and is already the sixth best-selling game year-to-date.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl was another new entry at No.3, as was Forza Horizon 5 at No.4. Despite Playground’s racing game being available on Xbox Game Pass, NPD said it enjoyed record launch month sales for the Forza franchise (including both Horizon and Motorsport titles).

Total consumer spending across hardware, software and accessories last month ($6.3 billion) was down 10% compared to November 2020, but year-to-date spending ($52.9 billion) is up 9% versus the same period last year.

Nintendo claimed last week that Switch enjoyed its biggest sales week yet in the UK and across Europe driven by the launch of a new Mario Kart 8: Deluxe hardware bundle for Black Friday.
