Two players from the public galaxy are moving: Fincantieri, on the side of shipbuilding, and Leonardo, an all-round aerospace defense multinational. Moves that anticipate the choice of the Draghi government to soon launch an open tender to entrust data and applications from the 180 most important Italian public bodies to an operator. This was revealed by Repubblica, who announced the choices of the Minister of Innovation, Vittorio Colao: to create a National Strategic Pole (Psn) that by 2022 can secure the IT infrastructure of the public administration.

Those who have pursued partnerships have already announced many in 2021, the year in which the cloud industry is set to move over $ 320 billion worldwide between services, programs and platforms offered on the cloud. A record destined to be broken soon: according to the consulting firm Gartner in 2022 the turnover will reach the threshold of 400 billion dollars.

Fincantieri bets on Aws by Bezos

In May Fincantieri presented its alliance with Amazon web services, the cloud arm of Jeff Bezos' giant. The two companies have signed a cooperation agreement "to accelerate the country's digital innovation and technological development" as part of the Italia Digitale 2026 program. The collaboration, it was explained, "will see an integration between the capabilities of the Fincantieri group in the defense, electronics, advanced systems, information technology and cybersecurity sectors, with the experience of AWS in supporting institutions, large companies, SMEs and startups, in innovation processes "thanks to the cloud.

Leonardo's choices: Microsoft and Aruba

Always with a view to improving the security of Italian networks, Leonardo also made an alliance with a big American in the sector: Microsoft. Leonardo, underlined the company's CEO, Alessandro Profumo, puts "his skills and technologies at the service of a capillary digitization of the country's essential services and consolidates his role of reference for the protection and inviolability of the data of Italians and the PA, to support digital citizenship and open government ”, he said.

The aerospace company of which the Ministry of Economy is a 30% shareholder is studying with Ericsson how to exploit 5G to enhance the security of the industry and has chosen the Italian cloud provider Aruba to market solutions on the cloud in Italy and Europe. Outside the defense radar, finance also looks to the Italian cloud to secure its technological infrastructures. Euronetx, the company that controls the Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Brussels, Lisbon, Oslo and Dublin stock exchanges and which has Cassa Depositi e Prestiti among its shareholders (7.32%) has identified the partner in the Bergamo hub of Aruba just to secure the technological system of the financial markets of half of Europe.
