PlayStation Now, June 2021

PlayStation Now

PlayStation Now sees the arrival in June 2021 of six new games, in addition to the already rich catalog of Sony's streaming platform. The highlight is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED's excellent action RPG that now needs very little introduction.

Then there is the fighting game Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown , the roguelike based on Slay the Spire cards and three Sonic classics inserted to celebrate the character's thirtieth anniversary: Team Sonic Racing, Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a spectacular fighting sequence with a monster. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PS4, available on PlayStatiion Now until September 6, 2021) has landed on PS Now with the rich Game of the Year Edition, which in addition to the already full-bodied base game also includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine expansions ) is undoubtedly the most representative title of the Polish studio CD Projekt RED, a faithful and passionate transposition of the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski.

At the command of the infallible hunter Geralt of Rivia, in this third chapter of the series we will have to put ourselves on the traces of Ciri, pushing us to explore the northern lands between Novigrad and Vellin, always ready to face new and monstrous threats as a Witcher imposes, immersed in a campaign that will keep us company for over a hundred hours, also considering the DLC.

Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown

Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, Akira and the obvious graphical improvements. Free in June for PlayStation Plus subscribers, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown (PS4, available on PlayStation Now indefinitely) is a special edition of the SEGA fighting game, made exclusively for PlayStation 4 and featuring a technical sector completely remastered compared to the original version of 2006.

On the content front, however, there is very little single player side: the developers have focused on the competitive aspects of the experience, therefore on the online multiplayer which includes new ways to increase the involvement and variety of the clashes, but also a netcode that unfortunately is based on outdated approaches, unable to restore the precision and promptness of the most recent productions.

Slay the Spire

Slay the Spire, the original formula with cards and fights. Brilliant mix between a card battler and a roguelike, Slay the Spire (PS4, available on PlayStation Now until December 6, 2021) asks us to create a deck dynamically, discovering new cards every time we try to face the terrible Spire and selecting them. for the next attempt, in order to obtain an increasingly powerful and versatile deck.

However, the experience is different with each game, thanks to the procedural system that changes the elements in the field, the relics that can be obtained during the journey and the enemies that we will be able to face, which also include powerful and threatening bosses. While not visually extraordinary, the Mega Crit Games title remains original and interesting.

Team Sonic Racing

Team Sonic Racing, Sonic and his car whiz around the scene. The first of the three Sonic titles brought to PS Now to celebrate the character's 30th anniversary, Team Sonic Racing (PS4, available on PlayStation Now indefinitely) is an arcade driving game in which we will be able to control the various characters of the series and put ourselves in the driving very fast racing cars, in breathtaking races that take place in different scenarios.

The vehicles do not change this time: a choice that allows you to keep the focus on acceleration, final speed and drifting, but also on fourteen different power-ups that we can collect along the track and use to gain an advantage over our opponents, to be strategically activated in the best possible moment to cross the finish line first.

Sonic Mania

Sonic Mania and its classic but renewed action. Sonic Mania (PS4, available on PlayStation Now indefinitely) undoubtedly represents an extraordinary synthesis of the classic experiences of Sonic the Hedgehog, created with the collaboration of experts of the series who have been able to characterize the game in a precise way, in the form of a heartfelt homage to the original chapters but with the freshness of a remake.

Past and future therefore meet in this production, with "remixed" scenarios to which new ones are added, characters able to face the paths in a different, to the benefit of replayability, and faster gameplay, capable of offering sequences with a high rate of spectacle without losing sight of the prerogatives of a level design also designed to emphasize exploration.

Sonic Forces

Continuing the tradition of the three-dimensional adventures of the blue hedgehog, Sonic Forces (PS4, available on PlayStation Now indefinitely) acc oglie with an unexpected incipit: Sonic has been defeated by the evil Dr. Eggman and we will have the task of saving him by putting ourselves at the helm of his many friends or a character created completely from scratch.

The gameplay generally resumes what we saw in the previous Sonic Generations, with two-dimensional sections alternating with 3D phases in which speed is a constant and the graphics hold its own thanks to its colors and a successful design, but there are episodes of frustration linked to a fluctuating precision in terms of controls. br>
