The best electric cars compatible with the eco-bonus

The new 2022 car incentives are coming and a substantial portion of the funds allocated for the new eco-bonus will be dedicated to electric cars. In fact, with the aim of supporting the spread of zero-emission cars, the Government has drawn up an incentive plan that will allow Italian citizens to be able to purchase a new electric car at a lower price than the list price.

This opportunity will reduce the cost difference that still exists between electric cars and petrol and diesel cars. The higher cost of electric cars represents, to date, the main barrier to the purchase of a zero-emission model for many Italian motorists. Thanks to the new car incentives, however, buying an electric car in 2022 will be much cheaper.

There are various opportunities available to Italian motorists to use the incentive represented by the eco-bonus for electric cars. The four-wheeler market is now full of alternatives to consider when buying a zero-emission car. In fact, almost all the manufacturers on the Italian market have included a zero-emission car in the price list.

It is important to emphasize, however, that not all models can be purchased with incentives. The legislation, in fact, sets a maximum ceiling on the list price for cars that can be purchased with the eco-bonus. Models that exceed this ceiling are not compatible with the benefit. Basically, it is not possible to buy an electric supercar by taking advantage of the discount on the price guaranteed by the state grant.

Eco-bonuses for electric cars: how the purchase incentives work

The incentives for the purchase of electric cars will be operational starting from May 2022. The possibility of being able to benefit from the contribution to the purchase represented by the eco-bonus, which translates into a discount on the expense to be incurred for a zero-emission vehicle, is bound to the availability of funds. Considering all the emission bands (0-20 g / km, 21-60 g / km and 61-135 g / km), an allocation of 700 million euros is foreseen for 2022.

As regards electric cars (therefore all those vehicles with CO2 emissions equal to 0 g / km), however, there are funds for 220 million euros for 2022. The possibility of accessing the eco-bonus it is also linked to compliance with the restriction on the list price. Not all electric cars are compatible with the eco-bonus. The purchase incentive, in fact, can only be requested for models with a list price of 35 thousand euros + VAT. This roof is significantly lower than the one previously fixed. Until last year, in fact, the eco-bonus was available for electric cars with a list price of 50 thousand euros + VAT.

It should also be noted that the eco-bonus for electric cars is available in two versions, with or without scrapping of an approved vehicle up to Euro 6. The purchase with scrapping of used equipment allows access to a greater discount. The options are:

ecobonus of 3,000 euros for the purchase of an electric car without scrapping ecobonus of 5,000 euros for the purchase of an electric car with the scrapping of a used car of less than 5 euros
