Surprise: The Last of Us remake is almost ready, we'll see it soon

Surprise

The remake of The Last of Us has been talked about for some time now, more precisely from the early months of 2021. Despite the fact that the attention on the rumor has dropped considerably over time, over the last few hours the insider Tom Henderson (known to most for having leaked the new Battlefield 2042 and Call of Duty Vanguard) has launched a very important indiscretion regarding the project, which for now we remember never having been officially confirmed by Sony.

The tweet launched by Henderson yesterday evening, on the other hand, leaves no room for misunderstanding. The insider has in fact learned from various sources that the remake of The Last of Us has now practically reached the end of development and could be launched in the course of 2022. In addition, two new features would also be ready for the second chapter: the multiplayer and a Director's Cut, treatment already suffered by two other Sony exclusives, namely Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima.

Now, if it is true that we are still in the field of rumors and speculations, Henderson is however revealed to be a decidedly official insider. The remake of the first The Last of Us was also announced by Bloomberg, thanks to a substantial article by Jason Schreier, a journalist who in the past managed to anticipate many official announcements, including that of Fallout 4, which cost Kotaku (former newspaper with which Schreier collaborated) a sort of ban, even preventing him from receiving review copies of Bethesda's games. Can we take his words as 100% sure? Obviously not, but considering the situation it cannot be excluded that an official announcement will not be launched over the next few months.

Finally, as far as the release date is concerned, Henderson is not unbalanced. According to the insider, Naughty Dog and Sony would be waiting to have news regarding the airing of the series on HBO and ride even more the hype that will ensue, so a possible release close to the debut of the television product could be seriously considered by all parties involved. We will update you as soon as official details are available.
