Marvel announces the new Legion of X series by Si Spurrier and Jan Bazaldua

Marvel has communicated the details regarding the relaunch of the Legion of X series, part of the X-Men titles and relaunched on the occasion of the new Destiny of X story arc. The series will be entrusted to screenwriter Si Spurrier, who has already written the mutant series Way of X, and drawn by Jan Balzadua.

Destiny of X will be an event that will involve the nation of Krakoa, born at the beginning of the Jonathan Hickman's management of all the mutant titles and that the writer abandoned after the Inferno event, and consequently all the mutant titles, also launching new ones. For Si Spurrier, Legion of X will be a continuation of the previous Way of X, telling of a group chosen with the task of defending Krakoa from external attacks and bringing mutant justice where necessary. Joining the team will be Nightcrawler, Legion, the son of Charles Xavier (on which a television series was also made a few years ago), Pixie, the Juggernaut, Blindfold, Dr. Nemesis and other mutants not yet revealed. The group will have to try their hand at different missions to keep the peace, such as setting out on the trail of a god of Arrako, the sister city of Krakoa.

In announcing Legion of X, Spurrier confessed that he was very fascinated by Hickman's construction work for the new mutant set-up, and that he had begun to think of a series that could be built in several acts. According to him, Krakoa needed a group that would defend it from threats of this kind and that could maintain its much-desired peace, but that were not just "policemen" and that each had their own character and way of acting.

Legion of X is just the latest of the series that Marvel presented in launching Destiny of X: other examples are X-Force by Benjamin Percy and Robert Gill, Marauders by Steve Orlando and Eleonora Carlini and Immortal X-Men by Kieron Gillen and Lucas Werneck. The first issue of Legion of X will be released in American comics on April 2, 2022.
