Horizon Forbidden West: Did You Know Aloy Really Exists?

Horizon Forbidden West

The release of Horizon Zero Dawn made Aloy one of the most popular heroines the PlayStation universe currently has to offer. The protagonist soon returns in the sequel called Horizon Forbidden West for PS5 and PS4. However, many do not know that Aloy's face is not an invention of the developer Guerrilla Games, but the image of an actress who brought the studio into the game with the help of face capturing. We introduce the actress.

It's about the Dutch actress Hannah Hoekstra, whom we've seen as Aloy for four years now. In addition to her appearance in video games, she has appeared in front of the camera several times in the past for films and series. For example, the 33-year-old from Rotterdam was most recently involved in the Netflix production "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)" in the role of Mia. Hannah Hoekstra also had a part in the Amazon video series "You Are Wanted" by Matthias Schweighöfer. The actress has also worked for ARD and ZDF, especially in German-speaking countries - including a leading role in Arthur & Claire and a stake in Amsterdam - thriller. Two years ago she also played a small role in the US remake of "Charlie's Angels", which was also seen internationally.

Who is behind Aloy's voice?

While Guerrilla Games chose Hannah Hoekstra as a face model, Aloys' dubbing voice does not come from the Dutch actress. In the original, Ashley Burch got the role of the protagonist. The spokeswoman has given her voice to numerous characters from the video game world in recent years. Including Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2, Chloe Price from Life is Strange and Mel in The Last of Us Part 2. Last year she also appeared in Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet (Apple TV +). In the German dubbing, Julia Casper can be heard as Aloy. Guerrilla Games would like to release Horizon Forbidden West this year - there is no firm release for the sequel yet.
