Dragon Ball Super - Super Hero

Dragon Ball Super - Super Hero, or the new (21st) animated feature film inspired by Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball franchise and the 2nd merging into Dragon Ball Super, was shown in the last hours at San Diego Comic-Con revealing a part of characters, historians and an unpublished one. While the video teaser of a few seconds gave vibrations of an artistic and visual CGI realization of the project, the look of the characters also seems to have changed slightly and we analyze it below with the new Goku, Pan, Krillin and Piccolo

Dragon Ball Super - Super Hero: the new Goku, Pan, Krillin and Piccolo

Let's start with Goku, the protagonist of the series, who was also shown in motion in the first video teaser and, unlike Dragon Ball Super: Broly, we find it in a clearer, more compact design, almost in a videogame style, typical of the CGI assumptions of the project. Here it is:

The novelty is Pan who finally, since she was born in Dragon Ball Super, has finally shown herself a little more grown up. In fact, in the events of the animated film in question, she will wear the kindergarten uniform. The production and Akira Toriyama have opted for a growth of the character and you can see her more grown up and with a different hairstyle:

Piccolo has arms whose components are yellow and not pink as it appears in the anime, respecting the canons of the colored edition of the official manga. Toei also reveals Piccolo's new home on Earth whose architectural style is typical of Namek which we look at below:

Krillin, still in police uniform, now has white eye sockets exactly like in the official design:

Finally, remember, an unpublished character made by the hand of Akira Toriyama himself was also unveiled. We still don't know any information, however:

What do wea> know about the new Dragon Ball Super movie?

This is the 21st animated film considering the entirety of the franchise and the 2nd to merge into the Dragon Ball Super era, which sees Akira Toriyama same original story, dialogue and character design alongside Toei Animation. The film will be released in Japanese cinemas in 2022, while a western date is not yet known.

From the first teaser video of the project, which we can review immediately below, it seems that the project will boast CGI components, deviating in large part from previous film experiences. Even Toriyama-sensei himself in the announcement comment had anticipated that the new animated film would have explored never before seen territories in terms of artistic aesthetics.

The plans related to the new Dragon Ball Super film were started in 2018, even before the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly (released in 2018 in Japan; in 2019 in Italy), and will aim to tell a story full of spectacular fights able to respond to the enthusiasm generated by the success of the previous.

Here is Akira Toriyama-sensei's comment on the new film:

“And after 'Dragon Ball Super: Broly' a new animated film is in production! Just like the previous film project, I'm working hard on the story and dialogue for another great movie. Unfortunately I can't say much about the plot at the moment, but be prepared for new heart-pounding and fun battles that may involve an unexpected character. We will also explore never before seen territories in terms of artistic aesthetics to offer you fans a new adventure to be experienced. Therefore, I hope that everyone looks forward to the next film! "
