According to The Hollywood Reporter, a fourth chapter of The Conjuring franchise is officially in the works at New Line Cinema (you can find the various chapters on Amazon) under the supervision of Warner Bros. Pictures. The production also sees the participation of the historical producers of the franchise, James Wan and Peter Safran. Additionally, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has been chosen to write the script and he's no stranger to working with both Wan and Safran.

Johnson -McGoldrick has also already worked on the script of two of the main chapters of the Conjuring universe. For starters, he co-wrote the script for 2016's The Conjuring 2 with Chad Hayes, Carey W. Hayes, and Wan himself. He went on to write the script for The Conjuring - By the Devil's Order of 2021 always alongside Wan. He also co-wrote the 2018 DC Extended Universe film Aquaman and agreed to write the sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, both directed by Wan and produced by Safran.

Directed by Wan from a screenplay by the Hayes brothers, The Conjuring was originally released in theaters in 2013, grossing $ 319.5 million against a $ 20 million budget to become one of the most profitable horror films of all time. Two direct sequels, the aforementioned The Conjuring 2 and By Order of the Devil, continued the smash hit in 2016 and 2021 respectively.
