Goat Simulator 3: We tried the craziest game of 2022, with goats as the protagonists

Goat Simulator 3

Have you ever tried to look a goat in the eye? Looking at those rectangular pupils, we are sure that your gaze will not be able to see anything. Nobody knows what's going on in a goat's head, because goats are unpredictable, bizarre and chaotic animals. It may seem like a strange theory, yet Goat Simulator 3 does nothing but confirm this hypothesis. During the Gamescom in Cologne we tried this crazy sandbox, witnessing some of the most hilarious things ever seen in a video game ... because goats are creepy animals, but also very nice.

In our tried and tested Goat Simulator 3 we have gathered all the essential information you need to know before playing this sheep odyssey which will arrive on PC and consoles starting November 17th.

Map and campaign

A policeman rides a goat: everything is regular in Goat Simulator 3 As in the previous chapter, the player will dress in the soft skins of a goat, scurrying through a vast and richly populated open world. During our game session we concentrated on exploring a single portion of the map, but opening the menu you immediately realize that the game world is very vast.

What amazes is not only the size of the map, but above all how densely populated it is: non-playing characters and goats, buildings to visit, activities, missions and much more. At the first start the map will not be all visible, but the player will have to discover the new areas by exploring. The campaign missions also work in the same way: the guys at Coffee Stain, developers of the game, are keen to point out that Goat Simulator has a small opening, a light story to act as a common thread, and a conclusion to the narrative arc.

To proceed in the adventure the sheep will essentially be asked to explore the map: passing near an area that has missions to offer, these will automatically become part of our objectives. All very simple activities that do not involve too elaborate dialogues or explanations.

Scattered around the map are the goat towers, constructions that, once activated, will make a portion of the same visible ... no sheaves of straw placed under the highest cornice of the building, but the parody ad Assassin's Creed seemed pretty clear to us! The towers must also be visited inside, to access a mission hub: inside the towers we will always find a huge door, closed by several padlocks and which we can open as the adventure progresses, completing the missions.

Exploration, upgrades and collectibles

Among the upgrades that can be equipped there will also be jet-packs As mentioned, exploration is essential for the completion of the game, but wandering hopping in a huge space empty would be really boring. As can be guessed, this is certainly not the case with Goat Simulator 3, which provides goats with a long series of elements to be exploited in the sandbox experience, starting with the skills of each individual sheep. Each goat, in fact, can perform a jump, with a further bounce on the surface that is hit after the first jump, a gored, a kick with the hindquarters and a sticky lick, which allows it to drag and move any transportable object between including small haystacks, other goats, people or even tractors. Ah, let's not forget the possibility of bleating indiscriminately or fainting on command whenever it seems appropriate.

To these basic skills are added those of the upgrades, scattered a little throughout the map: these will not necessarily help you in the exploration, but they are certainly elements that break the monotony of wandering through the levels. Among those we have seen in action are the saddle, which allows any other playable character to ride our goat, and a bazooka. function ready (fn) {if (document.readyState! = 'loading') {fn ()} else {document.addEventListener ('DOMContentLoaded', fn)}} ready (function () {window.addEventListener ('message', function (event) {let target_origin = 'https://aff.netaddiction.it'; if (event.origin! == target_origin) return; if (typeof event.data == "object" && event.data.hasOwnProperty ( "type") && event.data.type == "embaff") {let embed_id = event.data.embed_id; if (embed_id == '1164') {document.querySelector ('#_ aff_embed_1164'). setAttribute ('height ', event.data.embed_size);}}}, false);}) If you are in a hurry or have to travel a long distance, don't worry, because in Goat Simulator 3 the goats also have a license and will be able to drive any vehicle in the game, or decide to act only as a passenger. In any case, seeing a tractor with an open drive has its why. Of course, there is also a teleportation system and the usable points will be all unlocked towers or a guest player if you play multiplayer.

Within this vast map, the developers have enjoyed hiding a good number of collectibles that, once found, will become part of our collection and will mainly provide cosmetic options. Interesting, among many others, the possibility to completely change animal and decide to play as a pig, a giraffe or a hammerhead shark on a skateboard, for friends "Tony Shark".

World online and technical sector

The mini-games of Goat Simulator 3 are numerous and very fun The great novelty of Goat Simulator 3 is to be able to face all this in company. The choice is always in the hands of the player, who can decide to face the experience alone or in multiplayer in the company of up to three other friends. These will have to be part of the friends list of the platform on which you will play: from what we understand, at the time of release, the multiplayer mode will have this limitation and there will be no type of match-making to play with goats outside of ours. circle.

It must be said that this is not a big deal because there are many things to do in Goat Simulator 3 and with the right group of friends it will be difficult to decide to go in search of a narrative quest, because the temptation is to continually challenge each other with mini-games. These are scattered around the map and once unlocked they can be activated by any goat: if there are other players in the game, they will be asked if they want to participate in the event. If the answer is affirmative, they will be teleported to the location of the minigame. We played three car derby games and, we must admit, we would have done as many.

The goats in Goat Simulator 3 drive ... like dogs! However, if you think that a game of this type, made of madness and particularly broken ragdolls, was a walk to create, we must contradict you. The developers, in fact, told us that the programming of the multiplayer part was not easy at all due to all the game elements present in the map. As mentioned, Goat Simulator 3 is not a game that makes technical cleaning its focal point: during our test we saw people walking all crooked, goats with very long necks, we even got stuck with the car in a river (but the we put it back on track by dragging it with our tongues), but none of this seemed out of place. Despite this great chaos, everything is still playable and fun and the confusion that can be generated in a game of Goat Simulated 3 is very high. That's why multiplayer was so complex to make, because all of this has to work anytime, with or without friends in the game.

Goat Simulator 3 is the craziest game we will see coming out in 2022, about this we are quite certain. Everything Coffee Stain has created seems to answer the questions "why not?". Goats driving tractors? Why not. And goats with the jetpack? Why not. Everything is allowed in the large and rich world of Goat Simulator 3 and it is this enormous freedom, coupled with a vast map and numerous special power-ups that really make the difference that make the experience truly enjoyable. The multiplayer element opens up to even more absurd scenarios and we can't wait to explore the potential.

CERTAINTY

Silly yet damn fun Multiplayer mode World full of objects and events DOUBTS Technical sector assessable after many hours of play In some scenarios, too much confusion BEEEEEEH * bleating * Have you noticed any errors?
