Marvel Comics celebrates Janet Van Dyne with The Wasp

Thinking back to the early days of the Marvel Universe, the first names that are always thought of are those of the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and X-Men. Yet, among the first figures born within Marvel Comics there was also a small heroine capable of holding up to the most powerful heroes of the House of Ideas: Janet Van Dyne, alias the Wasp. It was 1963 when for the first time they saw the little Vespa sting the villains, then being part of the first formation of the Avengers, being indeed the true inspiration, a role that will rightly be celebrated next year, given the announcement by Marvel of Comics di The Wasp, miniseries dedicated to Janet Van Dyne.

For the 60th anniversary of Janet Van Dyne, Marvel Comics announces The Wasp

There could be no better way to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Wasp , an assignment that has been entrusted to an excellent screenwriter like Al Ewing, who in recent times has been actively participating in the celebrations for the historical figures of the House of Ideas. Flanked by Kasia Nie to the drawings and Jordie Bellaire to the colors, Ewing will arrive at this miniseries after having created another welcome celebration for a historical figure of the Marvel Universe, Ant-Man.

Al Ewing enthusiastically commented on this opportunity to be able to give the Wasp the right luster for its sixty years:

I enjoyed the Ant-Man series a lot and allowed me to appreciate Janet Van Dyne and her world. And when I began to dig into her past, there was a whole story just waiting to be told. If you're not a fan of the Marvelous Wasp, and her trusty adoptive Nadia, you are sure to be after we're done.

The Wasp # 1 will be released on the US market on January 18, 2023.
