Lamborghini, the era of electrification begins

Lamborghini

Lamborghini is preparing to enter a new era: the famous Italian brand has announced that 2022 will be the last year during which it will be possible to buy one of its cars with a fully petrol engine; in fact, starting from 2023 onwards, all Lamborghini models will be electrified with plug-in hybrid solutions, with the already stated goal of producing electric supercars in the second half of the decade.

The news, that it is unbelievable but at this point not even so much, it was spread by Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, during an interview with Automotive News Europe; after the first hybrid experiments carried out on the Sian, Lamborghini is preparing to say goodbye to V12 engines, and the last model to enjoy them will be the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae.

During 2022 Lamborghini will present 4 new models that will open the 'era of the electrification of the bull: we have no official technical information about it, but without a doubt among these 4 we will have the heir of the Aventador, proposed with only one exclusively hybrid engine.

Finally, after 2025, the company will be ready to bring a 100% electric model to the market: for the moment everything is silent and maximum secrecy applies to this project - which has probably already begun, but only in the more secret rooms - but among the upcoming novelties, again in the words of Winkelmann, there could also be a 4-door Lamborghini more dedicated to everyday use: if the success of the Lamborghini Urus is an indication of what the market wants, a the new 4-door Lamborghini can only do well to the company's coffers.

Lamborghini enters the world of NFTs with “The Space Key”

Automobili Lamborghini announces the first NFT (non-fungible token) project in the company’s history. Social media posts around the theme “To the Moon” have been hinting at it, now the space-themed artwork – the so-called Lamborghini Space Key – has been officially revealed and will soon be auctioned.

At the heart of this exclusive project, developed together with a yet undisclosed artist and limited to five units, is a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that Lamborghini sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part of a joint research project. After the return from space including all relevant tests for research purposes, the carbon fiber composite is now part of the Space Key: these materials mark yet another milestone for the company, this time as a gateway into the NFT world. Each of the five Space Keys is linked to an exclusive and purely digital artwork by the same artist through the QR code on the backside of the carbon fiber.

“Innovation is a deeply rooted part of the Lamborghini DNA,” explains Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “As a leading company for carbon fiber composite materials within the automotive sector we pushed boundaries two and a half years ago with the joint research project in space. Now entering the metaverse is again proof of Lamborghini always setting sail for new horizons. The NFT world has been calling to us, and we are excited about engaging with this very passionate and innovative community.”

Lamborghini enters into the NFT world in cooperation with NFT PRO™. Further details will be shared in the following days and weeks, including the name of the artist of the Space Key and digital artwork, the nature of this unique piece of art, the auction house, as well as the date and time of the auction with the link to the auction registration.

What are NFTs?NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are unique identifiers recorded on a distributed ledger known as Blockchain and tied to a digital asset such as pictures, videos, music, or other records (e.g. vehicle VIN numbers). Each token is unique, allowing their owners to guarantee asset authenticity, scarcity, programmability and trackability over the internet.
