Games out January 2022

Games out January 2022

Another videogame year greets us and we can finally look forward to a 2022 that could prove to be a must for all PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox fans. Hoping that the crisis of components and semiconductors finally gives us a moment of respite and allows all players to take home the console or consoles they most want, all hardware manufacturers, large publishers and the most talented indies have so many , portentous arrows to his bow. January, however, almost feels like the calm before the storm. The releases in general are certainly not very many and the big names are just a handful. But be careful to look at this beginning of the year as a period of backlog only: it would be a mistake. Also because in addition to big hits like God of War and Monster Hunter Rise that find a new home on PC, there is room for the new chapter of a saga that, despite assorted distortions and backwardness, always makes a bang and Pokémon Legends: Arceus does not can that arouse the interest of both diehard fans and the most critical and fed up with the general laziness of The Pokémon Company and Game Freak.

Ah and there's also a writer's new game that with Half -Life and Portal gave us true masterpieces. This and more in our article on video games coming out in January!

January 4th

Deep Rock Galactic (PS5, PS4) Deep Rock Galactic has been around for some time now on PC and Xbox but the game is finally coming to PlayStation and it will also be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers! Critically acclaimed and with over three million copies sold, up to four players can take on the role of a group of dwarves tasked with extracting resources from Hoxxes IV, a planet filled with precious stones as well as hostile creatures. With each player taking on a unique role within the group, you must all work together to achieve goals while fending off any threats and combining your skills to overcome obstacles. The maps are procedurally generated and are fully destructible, allowing you to dig through cave networks and freely carry out your mission. A true co-op masterpiece.

Monster Hunter Rise (PC) PUBG: Battlegrounds - Free to Play (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia) The latest episode of he acclaimed Monster Hunter series sees players take on fearsome monsters and reach new heights. In Monster Hunter Rise we will be transported to the colorful village of Kamura, a serene mountain settlement that will offer us a unique cultural experience and innovative hunting techniques and tools. Thanks to the use of special wire insects, hunters will be able to push themselves in any direction, thus also being able to climb cliffs and very high structures. All combat areas available within the game maps are seamlessly connected to each other, thus allowing the exploration of vast vertical scenarios without interruptions due to loading. An acclaimed game on Switch and our tried and tested Monster Hunter Rise on PC is the perfect appetizer while waiting for release.

PUBG: Battlegrounds certainly needs no introduction. In the videogame panorama of recent years, this title has proved to be one of the very first projects to bring the battle royale formula to success, which then reached dizzying numbers especially with Fortnite and Call of Duty Warzone. PUBG is also one of the latest battle royale that hasn't married the free-to-play model and that's where the news lies. PUBG: Battlegrounds becomes free-to-play on all platforms and those who have purchased the game will take home several exclusive contents by immediately obtaining the Founder's Edition. It will certainly be interesting to understand what the fortunes (or misfortunes) of this new life of PUBG will be with a model that after so much resistance has had to come to terms with the ruthless competition and with the direction of the market.

The Anacrusis - Early Access (PC, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One) Chet Faliszek is a name that for those who love Valve's big IPs is already a legend. Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and Episode 2, Portal and Portal 2, Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. A great writer who has put his hand on iconic projects and who will now put it on The Anacrusis, a co- four-player op (yet another one in recent years, it must be admitted) set on a gigantic ship / station on the edge of known space, a sort of Prey co-op more shootout. Hordes of ruthless and mysterious aliens will put our resistance to the test through the intensive use of a dynamic AI that promises ever new and fresh experiences thanks to weapons, perks, and sci-fi and original solutions. All with a story written by an extremely talented pen who with the first season focused on Nessa, Guion, Liu and Lance's attempt to survive will only scratch the surface of a mysterious and fascinating universe. There is, it must be said, the risk that this is just one of the many co-op games four of these years, but there is also a lot of potential.

God of War (PC) A 10/10 on the pages of Eurogamer.it is an event. A video game that takes home such a vote is a rare beast, a masterpiece that everyone should at least try. God of War, the PS4 exclusive that in 2018 substantially revolutionized the very nature of the iconic Kratos, arrives on PC transporting us back to Norse mythology in the company of the Spartan and his son, Atreus, in an adventure that next year will continue in the highly anticipated God of War Ragnarok. A jaw-breaking graphics already on PS4 base will amaze even more on the most performing machines while the action gameplay with adventure nuances is a gimmick that flirts with absolute perfection. Cory Barlog, Sony Santa Monica Studio and PlayStation have given us one of the best video games of the last 20 years, if not of all time that will finally thrill even PC gamers. Discover this gem in the God of War PS4 review.

Kingdom of the Dead (PC) If you are indie and you move within a fierce genre like that of FPS that winks at the old school, standing out is not for everyone. The lone developer behind the interesting and undoubtedly stylish KINGDOM of the DEAD must have thought a lot. A completely hand-drawn graphic, practically in absolute black and white, puts us in the shoes of Agent Chamberlain, a professor at the head of a secret government project called GATEKEEPER. The challenge of Chamberlain and his associates is not a small one: to defeat Death itself and her dangerous armies in a United States invaded by Death's Rifts. 22 monsters, 90s old school bosses and an infinite mode are some of the key features of an FPS that will demonstrate enough personality to make its mark?

Circuit Superstars ( PS4) Rugby 22 (PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One) A seemingly small but definitely not to be underestimated driving game, Circuit Superstars also arrives on PlayStation with its own arcade soul all centered on speed and fun. With an isometric-like view and the ability to play both multiplayer and solo against an opponent AI driven by 5 possible levels of difficulty, the game experience aims to always be adrenaline-pumping and fun. There are also many customization possibilities both at the car level and in the creation of tracks from scratch to be tested in company or alone. A game in many ways from the past that in its PC version has been highly appreciated by both critics and the public.

Eko Software and Nacon are back on the pitch with a brand new chapter dedicated to the rugby universe. The best clubs and the greatest nations meet in Rugby 22, a game that aims to offer dynamic gameplay faithful to the sport and its mix of tactics and intensity. Password is authenticity and fidelity in all modes, both single-player and multiplayer with the aim of proving to be a point of reference for all fans of this discipline. Making a video game that captures the essence of a sport like Rugby is never easy and the hope is that the Eko-Nacon pairing will continue to grow from iteration to iteration.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus (Switch) Uncharted: Collection - Legacy of Thieves (PS5) If the very first announcement suggested a sort of encounter between Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, subsequent news has outlined a project in many ways more comparable to Monster Hunter. Beyond the controversy related to the graphics (the technical aspect continues to largely disappoint) Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a new 3D adventure that in the various trailers has shown different settings between beaches, forests and snowy peaks with exploration as an element key and that will make extensive use of the pokémon themselves to glide from a height or to cross a body of water. There is also room for stealth in the particularly tall grass until you encounter aggressive pokémon. The story connects precisely to this aspect since the pokémon mysteriously have red eyes that correspond to a particularly hostile behavior. The game focuses on the Galaxy Expedition Team by focusing on characters such as Professor Laventon, Captain Cyllene and Commander Kamado. Exploring we will have to manually launch the Poke Balls to capture wild creatures and we will have to deal with pokémon that will react differently in front of our presence while to start a battle we will have to throw a Poke Ball containing one of our pokémon next to a wild pokémon. A sort of table will appear on the screen that will report the turns of the battle and in this sense the faster creatures could have advantages deriving from multiple but inevitably less powerful attacks. A game different from the usual but will it be enough to talk about a semi-revolution?

Pending the PC version which for now does not have a release date yet, PS5 players will be able to take home a mini-collection that includes the last two chapters of the Uncharted saga. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy enter next-gen allowing us to experience first-hand the adventures of Nathan Drake, Chloe Frazer and many other characters in search of treasures and mysteries. Uncharted: Collection - Legacy of Thieves will offer native 4K at 30fps or 4K at 60fps plus the 120fps option at 1080p. 3D audio, DualSense exploited to the fullest and almost instant uploads are some of the key aspects of a proposal that will also be sold with the possibility of upgrading by spending € 10 if you already own the PS4 version. Great Naughty Dog games to discover in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End review and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy PS4 review.
