PS5 and Xbox Series X, will the mid-gen ever arrive?

PS5 and Xbox Series X

According to a rumor very close to Rockstar Games, most developers would already have the devkits of the mid gen versions of PS5 and Xbox Series X in their hands. Obviously, it is difficult to confirm such a rumor. The indiscretion, however, opens us to a real reflection on the world of hardware and on how much this generation is perceived in a completely different way compared to the previous one.

This historical moment we are experiencing is definitely difficult to contextualize and there is probably not enough precedent to understand it better. The situation we are experiencing is under everyone's eyes: the products are forced to be born cross gen, especially Sony ones, since PS5 is still not found regularly and the units in circulation are not enough to justify the creation of triple A games. exclusive for the new Japanese console. Different speech for Xbox, which can also focus on the cloud, but third parties are still forced to land on Xbox One, as happened for example in Far Cry 6. In all this, what interest can there be in making a mid gen console as happened with PS4 Pro or Xbox One X?

While the scenario is decidedly disheartening, especially knowing that there are players who are still waiting to get their hands on PS5 and Xbox Series X, on the other it is clear that there are still huge supply problems. Yet a mid gen console could still be part of an answer: with more options available on the table, it is not excluded that the “standard” models cannot see the light faster. Obviously theories, which however must be exposed, also to have a clearer picture of the situation.| ); }

Gotham Knights PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Versions Will Run at 30 FPS

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that Gotham Knights frame rate on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be locked at 30 frames-per-second, irking players. Reports had been swirling for a while that the game will run at 30 fps on consoles, but with WB Games dropping last-gen versions in favor of a current-gen only release, many thought this would change. It won’t, unfortunately. And it doesn’t look like it will in the future either.

Gotham Knights executive producer Fleur Marty took to the game’s official Discord channel to confirm the news and offer a brief explanation for it. According to her, Gotham Knights comes with features that won’t work properly if the resolution is lowered and frame rate is bumped up. What features, you ask? Marty used co-op as an example.

“I know many of you are wondering about the availability of a performance mode for Gotham Knights on consoles,” Marty wrote. “Due to the types of features we have in our game, like providing a fully untethered co-op experience in our highly detailed open-world, it’s not as straightforward as lowering the resolution and getting a higher FPS. For this reason, our game does not have a performance/quality toggle option and will run at 30 fps on consoles.”

At least we’re getting that four-player co-op…
