Buying a laptop often leads to a choice between a light and elegant product that sacrifices computing power in favor of portability, and a gadget that pushes technical specifications but is more complex to use on the move. With its latest proposal, Lenovo aims to satisfy the public looking for the best of both worlds: its Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro-X is a versatile product, with a small footprint, an attractive design and above all that promises a lot from the point of view. of computing power.

Design

The laptop is built around a 14.5-inch display and therefore does not fall into the extra small category; yet the reduced frames, the 18.6 mm thickness and 1.45 kilos weight make it a product that can be easily carried on the shoulder, even on a daily basis. The sturdy aluminum body opens up to 180 degrees to allow you to use the device in every possible situation, also aided by a particularly large trackpad and a backlit keyboard that responds reactively and accurately to the touch. The only construction note is directed at the webcam module, which makes the frame protrude slightly upwards and is noticeable even after days of using the laptop.

What's inside

Behind the versatility of Yoga Slim 7i Pro-X, however, there is mainly its technical equipment. Inside the laptop there is a 12th generation Intel Core i7 processor - the 12500H or 12700H - supported by 16 GB of RAM expandable to 32 and an internal solid state memory from 512 GB expandable to 1 TB. The graphics viewed on the 120 Hz 3K display are managed by an integrated Intel Iris Xe card or - in the version we tested - by an Nvidia GeForce Rtx 3050 with 4 GB of dedicated memory, which certainly gives the notebook an edge.

How it works

The recipe gives life to a laptop that is particularly good for those who work with graphics and professional applications. Yoga Slim 7i Pro-X is not a workstation, but the combination between the processor and the graphics card can handle most of the editing and creation of audiovisual content without batting an eye: it warms little and remains silent, except in moments of a real crisis in which, however, the level of noise emitted by the cooling system is contained.

At the base of the laptop's vocation for productivity there is also a screen that behaves splendidly: the image ratio of 16:10 leaves more room for productivity than panoramic panels, definition makes pixels impossible to distinguish and keeps even the smallest textual and graphic content sharp, and the color fidelity shown opens the door to photo and video editing.

Good from this point of view also the provision of ports, which allows you to use the device leaving the usb hub at home: it starts on the left side from the hdmi output and from 2 usb of ti po c Thunderbolt 4, switching to a full size usb on the opposite side that is accompanied by a slot for the 3.5mm headphone jack. The only thing missing is a slot for sd and microsd cards.

In moments of leisure in front of a film or a TV series, the audio coming from the front Harman speakers positioned on the side of the keyboard is appreciated. powerful and engaging, with support for Dolby Atmos content. Specifically for gaming, this Yoga defends itself well, especially in the version with dedicated graphics card: if it is true that the more complex games will not be able to run both at maximum frame rate and details (but they will all work anyway) most of the most popular titles widespread will not have problems even in maximum configuration.

The only drawback is represented by an autonomy that does not reach the levels of the more sober products from the point of view of the technical data sheet. In particular, the very high resolution display and the dedicated graphics card take their toll if pushed to the maximum, causing the percentage of battery left to drop quickly during the day; keeping these components under control you can easily reach 7-8 hours of use, but you lose much of what sets this notebook apart from the competition.

The verdict and the price

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro-X is a particular product, which unites two souls in one and does it in an ideal way. Elegant and sturdy, it can be used in every imaginable situation both thanks to the degree of inclination of the display, and above all thanks to a technical equipment that allows it to get where most laptops do not arrive. All while maintaining a relatively small footprint and weight, to which even commuters can easily adapt.

The price is in line with what is offered, but it is not for everyone: it starts at 1099 euros for the variant with Intel Iris Xe graphics card to upgrade to 1899 version with dedicated graphics card. By choosing the configuration independently, you can save money by opting for a Core i5 processor or go all in with the Pro version of Windows 11, touch screen and maximum internal memory and ram, for a total of 2119 euros.
