PlayStation Store: Gran Turismo 7 and Shadow Warrior 3

PlayStation Store

PlayStation Store is updated this week with the arrival of Gran Turismo 7, the new episode of the famous racing game series from Polyphony Digital, which aims to bring the definitive experience for the franchise to Sony consoles twenty-five years after its birth on the original PlayStation.

The releases, however, do not stop there: Shadow Warrior 3, the latest shooter from Flying Wild Hog, also debuts, returning to a linear structure after the experiments of the second episode, and Babylon's Fall, PlatinumGames' controversial action RPG that does not seem to have convinced audiences and critics alike.

The RPG ELEX 2, the roguelike-style action adventure Conan Chop Chop and two different adventures are also available, namely FAR: Changing Tides, with its exotic atmospheres and open sea setting, and the funny Little Orpheus from The Chinese Room.

Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo 7, a car on track Particularly awaited by fans of the series and fans of racing games in general, Gran Turismo 7 (PS5, € 79.99; PS4, € 69.99) aims to offer a particularly full-bodied and exciting experience, marking the return of the traditional Career mode in which you start from the bottom, with a used car, and compete to earn the money necessary to upgrade the car or to buy others.

A long single player-based path that is enriched in this case by many rather interesting surrounding elements, some of which aim to pay tribute to the history of the brands and their models, while elements reappear classics such as driving license tests and at the same time there are fun variations on the theme of normal speed races.

The system packaged by Polyphony Digital takes into account the past and present of the series, although the review of Gran Turismo 7 tells us that in terms of artificial intelligence, damage and collisions, the lack of always: the opponents follow pre-established trajectories, they do not break down and hitting them can, absurdly, produce advantages.

Sport mode constitutes a further injection of contents, a sort of endgame in which to face the most demanding challenges and maybe prepare for online competitions, which start from the solid foundations of the previous chapter and therefore offer a satisfying experience right away. Finally, on a technical level, little to say: the game is a feast for the eyes.

Shadow Warrior 3

Shadow Warrior 3, Lo Wang in the company of Orochi Zilla After the daring finale of the second chapter, Lo Wang returns for a new adventure in Shadow Warrior 3 (PS4, € 49.99) but with a substantially different formula, closer to the linearity of the beginnings and therefore inevitably less profound. The protagonist increasingly poses himself as a variant of Deadpool and his jokes are incessant, but it is the action that speaks from the beginning to the end of the campaign.

Against the backdrop of scenarios that refer to the Japanese Middle Ages but become more and more mystical, we will have to face hordes of completely new enemies using the sword and a set of upgradeable firearms, often remaining involved in absolutely frenetic and spectacular clashes, but which do not remain impressed. We talked about this and more in the Shadow Warrior 3 review.

Babylon's Fall

Babylon's Fall, a Babylon's Fall combat sequence (PS5 and PS4, € 69.99) catapults us into a mysterious scenario, in the role of powerful warriors determined to discover the secrets that lie within the legendary Tower of Babel. A dark place full of pitfalls that we will have to face using the skills of Gideon Coffin, special relics that give those who use them special powers.

Developed by PlatinumGames and produced by Square Enix, the game focuses on a cooperative action experience for four participants, but the recent beta did not convince due to a slow and uninspired combat system: the hope is that the full version can boast greater care from this point of view.

The other games

Elex 2, our character with the jetpack in action ELEX 2 (PS5 and PS4, € 59.99) marks the return of the Piranha Bytes RPG with an episode characterized by phases wide-ranging explorations within a very well-made world, which alternates truly suggestive elements with others that denote a certain lack of finishing. However, the final result is very interesting, as we wrote in the ELEX 2 review.

FAR: Changing Tides (PS5 and PS4, € 19.99) is instead an adventure in which we will have the task of navigating the seas , explore the abyss and discover the remains of forgotten civilizations, as part of an experience that is often exciting and full of an unexpected depth between puzzle and ship management. Too bad for the narrative sector, on which we should have focused more. The review of FAR: Changing Tides.

Conan Chop Chop, a fight sequence Conan Chop Chop (PS4, € 19.99) finally debuts on PlayStation Store after a particularly long wait, and the final result is pleasant but not essential: a fun and light-hearted roguelike-style adventure, with a solid progression system and spectacular boss fights, but lackluster in single player and with some technical deficiencies. The review of Conan Chop Chop.

Little Orpheus (PS5 and PS4) is finally the console version of the adventure developed by The Chinese Room and initially available exclusively on the Apple Arcade platform: the story of a Russian astronaut who he finds himself exploring a secret and fascinating world full of dangers. All the details in the Little Orpheus review.
