Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonlance returns

Dungeons & Dragons

Dragonlance finally arrives in Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition? Maybe not immediately but it seems so, thanks to Heroes Of Krynn, the latest Unearthed Arcana released yesterday. Fans of the legendary Weis and Hickman saga are ready to cheer, as the title of this supplement speaks volumes on the subject and heralds the release of a new official manual.

We're not talking about canonically official material yet. , as through the Unearthed Arcana are free content in which Wizards offers, from time to time, additional unofficial content such as variants of existing classes and races or new options, such as talents and more, which could be proposed in future publications, in in case the public test phase proves to be satisfactory. In the past, in fact, various contents proposed in this modality have seen the inclusion in the official published material, such as Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft (available here) or Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (available here).

L'UA Heroes Of Krynn contains a new playable race, the kender, and a new subclass for the sorcerer. In addition to one of these two new options, there are also the usual new talents and two new background backgrounds.

You can find the Heroes Of Krynn pdf at this link.

Heroes Of Krynn: the kender arrive!

One of the novelties to be playedtesting is represented by the inclusion in the roster of the playable races of the kender, the lineage a which belongs Tasslehoff Burrfoot, one of the most beloved characters of the saga ever.

Fifth Edition kender will have advantage on saving throws to resist frightened conditions, the ability to verbally provoke enemies in order to give their target disadvantage on hit rolls up to start of the next round and a magical ability called Kender Ace, which is the ability to magically extract a random object from one's pockets such as a certain number of coins or a tool of the player's choice.

Lunar Magic : the lunar sorcerer

Heroes Of Krynn also introduces a new subclass of sorcerers, based on the influence of lunar energy, an emanation of the energy of the three moons of Krynn, or alternatively in other settings of lunar deities such as Sel√Ľne se inserted within other settings. A character with this subclass may therefore have been exposed to the concentrated magic of the moon (or moons) of his world, perhaps through some forgotten ritual, infusing it with with this kind of power.

In addition to having a dedicated spell list, the lunar sorcerer's spell list will be affected by the moon phase (Full Moon, Crescent Moon and New Moon), which will be determined by the player himself at the end of each rest extended: depending on the chosen phase they will therefore be accessible only to the spells of the specific phase.

New Backgrounds: Knight of Solamnia and Wizards of High Sorcery

Heroes Of Krynn also outlines two new backgrounds , Knight of Solamnia and Mages of High Sorcery, designed to include these two institutions linked to some of the saga's iconic characters in future Dragonlance campaigns. The knights of Solamnia are a background mainly indicated for all martial characters, but this does not mean that unusual classes cannot join the ranks of this chivalric order. This background confers skills in athletics and survival and gives each knight a trusty squire.

As for the order of High Sorcery Mages, it is an order open to all classes capable of mastering some form of magic, but remains inaccessible to all other classes. Characters belonging to the Wizards of High Sorcery gain arcana and history skills and gain a new feat called Initiate of High Sorcery, which gives access to a list of spells related to one of Krynn's three moons. .

West Liurnia - Dungeons, Points of Interest, and Secrets

Last Edited: 9 Mar 2022 9:01 am

West Liurnia is one of the three areas that comprise the large region of Liurnia of the Lakes in Elden Ring. This page includes an overview of the area, including all main dungeons, bosses, loot, and secrets to find in this region.

West Liurnia is the expansive highlands and mountain areas of the Liurnia Region, including the decimated albinauric village hiding in the shadow of the large mountaintop known as the Moonlight Altar (which can only be accessed later in the game), and also includes the mysterious and well-defended Caria Manor to the north.

This area is home to many secrets and all manner of creatures - including soldier patrols, enemy camps, and even poisonous bogs.

WestLiurnia MapFragment.jpg

To reveal the details and topography of the whole Liurnia region, you'll need to find three Map Fragments at the Steles located in East Liurnia, North Liurnia, and the West Liurnia.

You can find the West Liurnia Map Fragment near the far northwestern tip - far north of the Academy of Raya Lucaria and Testu's Rise, on a small road above the waterline just before the Kingsrealm Ruins, on the path towards Caria Manor.

West Liurnia is home to several world bosses that can be found outside of dungeons, some of which roam in certain areas, and others that are hiding until you draw close enough to trigger their arrival. There are also several scripted invasions by NPC humans that will force you into a conflict. Click on a boss below to learn more about how to defeat them.

As you explore the region of Liurnia, you'll find various friendly (or seemingly friendly) faces you can find and speak to - and even buy and sell with to obtain unique wares.

As you explore this region, you may come across several scarabs scampering away. Some of them will refill your flask of tears, but others can reward you with special items:

On the northern edge of the poison swamp near the Village of the Albinaurics, you can find a series of ledges and platforms overlooking some woods and the Converted tower to the north. Check around the larger peaks and ledges here to find a scarab on the edge.

Once you've completed Caria Manor to the northeast, you can exit out the door to find the group of towers known as the Three Sisters. A scarab lurks among the ruins here that you can hunt down.

Opposite the path to the three sisters above Caria Manor is a long path around the manor towards a large cemetery, where many wolves and a few vanishing mages wander. Look along the main path for a scarab to attack.
