Ms. Marvel: Brie Larson welcomes Imani Vellani to the MCU

Ms. Marvel

While we are still waiting to see Oscar Isaac play Marc Spector in Moon Knight, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already unveiling its next moves with Ms. Marvel, a series out on June 8 that will tell the adventures of the young Kamala Khan. As previously revealed, this series will serve as the launch of Captain Marvel - The Marvels, the MCU film in which the young heroine will share the scene with Carol Danvers. And it was the actress who plays Danvers, Brie Larson, who happily welcomed the trailer for Ms. Marvel, shown by Marvel Studios these days.

Ms. Marvel: Brie Larson welcomes Imani Vellani into the MCU

Ms. Marvel will see Iman Vellani for the first time playing the young Kamala Khan, a teenager passionate about superheroes with a predilection for Carol Danvers, alias Captain Marvel, who acquires superpowers that will lead him to confront the metahuman community of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comic book Marvel Universe, Kamala Khan was created in 2014, and despite a relatively short editorial life, Kamala has managed to get popular with readers, even getting her own series. And now, she will star in a new MCU series on Disney +.

The release of the Ms. Marvel trailer was greeted with enthusiasm by Brie Larson, who wanted to show her appreciation to the young colleague on Twitter

You ARE a superhero, Kamala. https://t.co/7I7m0os5Mg

- Brie Larson (@brielarson) March 16, 2022

After Ms. Marvel, Imani Vellani will return to play the role of Kamal Khan in Captain Marvel - The Marvel, a film in which he will star alongside Larson. Given the presence of other young heroes of the Marvel Universe, the possibility of seeing Kamala involved in other projects, where she could act alongside other teen superheroes, such as Kate Bishop (seen in Hawkeye), should not be excluded, bringing the feats of the Young Avengers. For now, we just have to wait until June 8 to see Kamala Kahn's debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Ms. Marvel.

MS. MARVEL Promo Art Reveals The Disney+ Series Will Feature An Event Called 'Avengercon'

Following the release of that awesome first trailer for Ms. Marvel, some new promo art has surfaced showcasing an event we're definitely excited to check out in the series. It appears young Kamala Khan will don that makeshift Captain Marvel costume to attend 'Avengercon,' a convention that's clearly devoted to Earth's Mightiest Heroes (how cool does Hulk's Rage Room sound?).

With a little more room to tell stories thanks to the advantages offered by episodic television, we're starting to learn more about how people perceive The Avengers and superheroes in the MCU.

Some shots from 'Avengercon' were featured in the trailer, though we weren't aware at the time that Kamala was attending an event meant to celebrate the heroes. However, after The Avengers restored those affected by The Blip, it's not surprising the public have moved on from the Sokovia Accords. Something tells us poor Spider-Man won't be among those being celebrated after London, though!

'Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?'

It's also been confirmed that joining Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Bisha K. Ali is the show's Head Writer, while episodes were directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8.
