    On Entertainment District Arc

Natsuki Hanae was first asked about his general feelings on the ongoing arc, and the pressure that comes with voicing a protagonist as popular as Tanjiro:

“I constantly want to keep improving. The anime’s quality is so amazing now that I feel like I need to constantly improve to keep up as well. I’m sure everyone else in the cast thinks the same. But to be honest, I don’t feel as much pressure now. Compared as to when the anime just began. As for the arc itself, I think one of its main points is how the streets of the entertainment district look amazing and have been incredibly reproduced. I could say the same thing for the beautiful kimono worn by the Oiran and Uzui-san’s ornaments. I think the series is worth watching just to see that.”

Natsuki Hanae on Tengen Uzui & Katsuyuki Konishi

Hanae also mentioned Tengen Uzui is one of his favorite characters, so he’s really happy to finally hear his lines voiced. He also lengthily praised his seiyuu Katsuyuki Konishi and respects him as one of his role models:

“First, I really like how Uzui-san looks. And the more you learn about him the more you like him. Be it his fighting style, or his way of thinking as a Hashira. And the way Konishi-san voices him is exactly how I imagined his voice back when reading the manga. As a fan myself I’m really happy to hear Uzui-san’s lines voiced. The beginning of the arc also had a lot of comedy scenes with him. Inosuke and Zenitsu are always screaming, but in this arc, Uzui-san is constantly screaming back at them too, so the recordings were really fun.”

  • Natsuki Hanae on Daki & Sawashiro Miyuki

Natsuki Hanae was also asked about the latest episodes, with the fight between Tanjiro and Daki, who’s voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro.

“We don’t actually record together, but I spent a lot of time analyzing and picturing how Tanjiro and Daki would act during these scenes, so it felt like we were together. And that she’d kill me if I didn’t focus enough. I always admired Sawashiro-san and she’s perfect in any role, so I felt a lot of pressure voicing these scenes. So that I don’t fall behind her acting.”

Natsuki Hanae on Tanjiro & Rengoku

The final part of the interview has Hanae chatting about the link between Tanjiro and Rengoku:

“Tanjiro has now fully inherited Rengoku-san’s will. Thinking about what he must do as part of the demon slayer corps. Tanjiro also says the “set your heart ablaze” line and my own heart was burning when voicing it. I actually cried back when reading that scene in the manga so I wanted to make sure it’s perfect. Both Rengoku-san and Uzui-san are incredible people you can rely on. So while their personalities are completely different, they’re pretty similar. And in a sense, knowing that also helped me with my acting for Tanjiro. As I want to catch up to them.”
