PlayStation Store: GTA 5 and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

PlayStation Store

PlayStation Store updates this week with the debut of the long-awaited next-gen version of GTA 5, capable of taking advantage of the capabilities of PS5, and with the controversial action RPG Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, which takes us back to the dawn of the famous Square Enix series.

Among the other releases we also point out the captivating adventure with a cyberpunk background YEAR: Mutationem, the frenetic races of Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 5 and two different fighting games: Phantom Breaker: Omnia and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V, protagonists Michael, Trevor and Franklin With over 160 million copies sold, GTA 5 finally arrives on PS5 with the long-awaited next-gen version, which introduces some major technical improvements to the open world experience that many of us already know well, having made its debut on PS3 back in 2013. Grand Theft Auto V (PS5, € 9.99) therefore stands as one of the few triple A to have found a place on three different generations of consoles.

The game's campaign, extremely full-bodied and fun, tells the story of three really well-characterized characters : Michael De Santa, Franklin Clinton and Trevor Philips, who find themselves working together to carry out a series of shots and thus dominate the scenario of Los Santos, the city that is the backdrop to the adventure and that takes up the traits of Los Angeles.

Even without a control system far from the now widely tested solutions for the action genre, the gameplay of GTA V is still in great shape today, demonstrating how far the project was ahead of the era of the debut and how much care has been taken in its realization: it is no coincidence that it is one of the most expensive videogame productions ever.

The PlayStation 5 version boasts three different graphics modes, allowing you to play at real 4K and 30 fps, 1440p and 60 fps or dynamic 1440p and 60 fps with the addition of a pinch of ray tracing. Loads are noticeably faster than on PS4 thanks to the SSD, and finally the DualSense controller has been exploited well with regard to adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, as we wrote in the analysis of GTA 5 for PS5.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, a fighting sequence The curious Team Ninja project takes us back to the origins of the famous RPG series with an action-focused spin-off, equipped with mechanics in some ways soulslike and a cast of rather stereotyped characters, united in the fight against evil. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (PS5 and PS4, € 69.99) is this and more, but above all it is a title that does not fully believe in it.

If in fact the combat system highlights some captivating idea and the structure generously grants content of all respect, the modest narration, the technical shortcomings and a listless direction draw the picture of a game unable to fully express its potential: we talked about it in the review of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin .

The other games

Phantom Breaker: Omnia, one of the spectacular specials of the game Phantom Breaker: Omnia (PS4, € 39.99) is the definitive version of a fighting game ever distributed in the West, which carries on a visual novel style narrative to then give life to spectacular clashes between the characters, with rather simple and traditional mechanics, as well as the offer in terms of contents and modalities. The review of Phantom Breaker: Omnia.

YEAR: Mutationem (PS5 and PS4, € 21.99) is instead a cyberpunk adventure set in a futuristic metropolis controlled by megacorporations. In the game we take on the role of Ann, a skilled bounty hunter committed to catching criminals in a scenario that mixes two-dimensional and three-dimensional elements to deliver a decidedly different visual experience to us.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, a fiery special attack Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PS4, € 29.99) is instead the remaster of a spin-off of the Atlus series, which comes in the form of a spectacular fighting game in which we will be able to control the most famous characters of Persona 3 and Persona 4, committed to facing each other and exploiting their special abilities in the Midnight Channel arena.

Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 5 (PS5 and PS4, € 69.99) finally arises like the latest edition of the Milestone racer, pleasant and exciting for Supercross fans but at the same time all too traditional and technically dated: we talked about it in the review of Monster Energy Supercross - The Offici to Videogame 5.
