Kirby and the lost land, 5 things we loved

Kirby and the lost land

It had been a long time since HAL Laboratory had churned out such a good game on the most beloved Pink Fluff of video games. We loved the new 3D platformer for Nintendo Switch, as you will discover by reading our review of Kirby and the Lost Land: it is a triumph of colors, music and game design solutions that have glued us to the screen between puzzles, minigames and spectacular boss battles. Yes, it's an "easy" game by the standards of those used to looking for ancestral rings and dark souls, but Kirby has always been a kid's title and an ongoing experiment.

If you have also read our story special, you will know that Masahiro Sakurai invented it practically by accident. Kirby and the Lost Land collects the legacy of his thirty-year career, but there are some aspects that we particularly liked and about which it is worth coming back with arrogance with this special.

In fact, we will tell you below 5 things we loved about Kirby and the lost land. Are you ready?

The Boccomorphosis

Kirby and the lost land, the Morpholbulb will allow you to light up the dark rooms Each Kirby has its own "gimmick", that is a specific gameplay dynamic that differs from all other games. For example, in Kirby: Planet Robobot there were mechs, and in Kirby: Star Allies you could combine Copy abilities.

In Kirby and the Lost Land, on the other hand, there is Boccomorphosis: this unprecedented power allows us to absorb certain objects and take their shape and characteristics, which we will then use to solve the various puzzles in the stage . The variety of situations is enormous and some Boccomorphoses lend themselves to the most disparate gameplay solutions.

Our favorite is the Morfoanello, because in the game it is used on various occasions, but always in a different way. Like Morfoanello, Kirby can blow powerful jets of air that allow us to repel enemies, move propellers that will activate platforms or other mechanisms, and even clean the piles of sand or dust that hide chests and other collectibles.

Above the boats, the Morfoanello becomes a kind of propeller that allows us to navigate, run over enemies and break through cracked walls. And there are puzzles that also exploit the circular shape of the Morfoanello: for example, look for the incomplete sign in the Abandoned Beach stage of the Oasis Voice of the Ocean world and try to complete it to save a hidden Waddle Dee!

The city of the Waddle Dee

Kirby and the lost land, in the city of the Waddle Dee you can even fish together In Kirby and the lost land you will establish a kind of headquarters where all the Waddle Dee will meet. The more you save, the more services will open in the city. The former will allow you to review the cinematics or challenge the fate of the card dispensers to complete your collection, as there are over three hundred, but over time you will unlock many useful facilities such as the Waddle Dee Bar, where you can buy a takeaway snack that you can consume at a later time, or the Waddle Dee's Shop, which will allow you to obtain useful temporary bonuses to attack and defense. function ready (fn) {if (document.readyState! = 'loading') {fn ()} else {document.addEventListener ('DOMContentLoaded', fn)}} ready (function () {window.addEventListener ('message', function (event) {let target_origin = 'https://aff.netaddiction.it'; if (event.origin! == target_origin) return; if (typeof event.data == "object" && event.data.hasOwnProperty ( "type") && event.data.type == "embaff") {let embed_id = event.data.embed_id; if (embed_id == '558') {document.querySelector ('#_ aff_embed_558'). setAttribute ('height ', event.data.embed_size);}}}, false);}) Continue to find the hidden Waddle Dee and minigames will also appear in the city, which are now inevitable in any self-respecting Kirby. Roll, Kirby! reminiscent of the old Kirby: Tilt 'n' Tumble for Game Boy, while Snap Fishing is a quick time event that will allow you to challenge even a friend if you are playing together. In Waddle Dee's Bar: helper wanted! However, you will have to work together if you want to overcome the highest difficulty level, which is truly hellish since you will have to serve a lot of hungry Waddle Dee in no time! And then there's the Colosseum, where you can fight bosses and minibosses in sequence. At the end of the first cup you will find the mythical Meta Knight waiting for you: defeat him to unlock the project of the Copy skill that evolves Sword into Sword Meta Knight!

The advanced Copy skills

Kirby and the lost land, the icy breath of the ice skill Dadopagos snowman form In Kirby and the Lost Land there are fewer Copy abilities than in the past, but each has two or more evolutions that multiply the forms that Kirby can assume by sucking the enemies. First you will have to unlock the blacksmith in the city of the Waddle Dee, then you will have to find the hidden blueprints in the levels and bring them to him, but to actually evolve a Copy skill you will have to pay in coins and rare stones. The latter are located in the Streets of Treasure: they are special stages in which you will be forced to use a specific Copy or Bocchromorph ability to overcome a timed challenge, and in the end you will be rewarded with a rare stone.

Kirby and the Lost Land, Dragonfire is a very powerful ability that can inflict damage over time to enemies. Evolved Copy Abilities can be more effective than the original power, or function significantly differently. Grenade, for example, evolves into Chain of Grenades, which as the name suggests allows you to launch linked bombs, and the more you place, the more damage they will do when they explode. Some evolutions are very powerful: one of our favorites, Dragon Fire, in addition to granting great mobility with its aerial glide, allows you to project a medium-range incandescent breath that can ignite the target and inflict damage over time, and this makes it very useful against bosses. There are Copy abilities to suit all tastes, but finding all the blueprints and rare stones won't be easy.

The End of the World Bosses

Kirby and the Lost Land, Grinfiolina is the boss of the third world To complete each world you will have to save a certain number of Waddle Dee: only then will you bea> able to break through the gate that separates you from the end of world boss. These enemies can be tough, especially if you play Storm mode: you will often risk restarting the level as they inflict a lot of damage and follow unpredictable patterns. We must say that we loved the various boss fights and that the latter, in particular, really kept us on our toes, even forcing us to choose the right Copy skills to better face them.

In addition, you will encounter faces known as a new version of Whispy Woods called Tropic Woods: in the past we have already faced some variations of this historical opponent of Kirby - for example, Yggy Woods in Kirby: Star Allies or Flowery Woods in Kirby: Triple Deluxe - but the ... "Alola form" was missing!

Kirby and the lost land, there is also Wispy Woods in an alternate version called Tropic Woods In the end boss fights world you can also complete secondary objectives to rescue the hidden Waddle Dee. In some cases you will just have to win without getting hit or within a certain time limit, but on other occasions you will have to fight using specific Copy abilities - for example, shooting Grinfiolina with the Scout guns when he climbs the pylons - or take special actions, like passing between the legs of the huge Gorimondo or sucking King Dedede's hammer at the right moment. It will be good practice, because at some point you will have to face much tougher versions of these bosses, and then it will be pains.

After the credits ...

Kirby and the earth lost, the second player takes control of a Waddle Dee warrior Kirby and the lost land is one of the longest-running titles in the history of the Pink Fluff. It is true that you can finish it in a few hours if you pull straight like a train, saving only the necessary number of Waddle Dee in the main stages, but in doing so you will miss out on most of the fun. Also because the game does not end after the sensational twists in the last world and the credits. Reload the game and return to the city of the Waddle Dee to find out all the news: we don't want to anticipate you too much, but we tell you immediately that there will be new challenges, some unexpected visitors, a whole set of more stickers ... and an additional world to tackle.

And as everything gets more complicated, you'll need even better Copy skills to overcome these challenges. In fact, you will discover that there are new projects to be found and that the blacksmith will be able to upgrade the Copy skills of your choice under the large reward. I mean, to 100% complete Kirby and the Lost Land, you'll have to put in a lot of effort, so roll up your sleeves ... or whatever Kirby is wearing over that fluffy pink body of his.
